    No sound from RSP1068

    Hi all,

I have been the proud owner of a new RSP 1068 for the past week now. To my dismay I got home from camping on the weekend to find no sound coming out of the processor!

My better half told me there was some crackling in the rear channels (not loud) on the weekend and then there was no sound. I have since done some tests and found:

    - No sound when using any input other than multi-channel
The unit works, turns on and appears to be decoding the input correctly. I.e I switch digital TV stations and the decoding changes. It's just not passing sound out of its pre-outs.

It switches video, turns on and off (doesn't 'lock up'). The OSD works. I just can't get sound out of the pre-outs - even the test tones do not work. The one exception is when I hook up some analog inputs to the multi-channel input and select 'bypass' it will work. No other analog input works.

Any ideas guys before I take it back for a warranty claim?

    Cheers
    Rod

    In this order try this

1 Try it with a different amp ... perhaps the amp is toast.
2 Try a factory software default reset and reconfigure settings and see if that helps
3 Try the multi outputs ... using the multi inputs - if this does not produce any sound then in all likelihood your amp is cooked and needs to be replaced.
4 Try a different speaker - just to be sure ....

    Regards Steve.

      Hi Steve,

Thanks for that, have tried it all. Am currently running my old Yamaha in which the whole system is working. It's definitely the processor as I was feeding the Yamaha with it.

IMO it's cooked. Don't know how but will send it in under warranty, this stuff happens occasionally.

I have that same problem as you have. It works when in multi input which is not using the surround chips. I have to send it to the dealer and they gave me a new one.
It seems to be a common problem with 1068.
Do you use the volt trigger ? Ever since I havent used it anymore.

          Hi Tony,

Thanks for making me feel a little better about it. I was talking to a fellow Rotel owner and we were both a little perplexed that no-one on Club Rotel had heard of this before!

PS: No I don't have 12v trigger in use, all I had hooked up was a few opticals, component in and out (fully used) and the pre-outs of course. I must admit I'll be holding my breath next time I plug the new one in, but there are no hard feelings against Rotel equipment, I can't wait to have it back in action, these things happen I guess.

RSP-1576MKII - iPhone connected to front usb input - no sound - SOLVED
              by Jazzy16
I am testing the inputs on my new RSP-1576MKII. When I connect my iPhone XS, IOS 14.4.1 to the front USB Input of the processor, I get no sound. The input is configured correctly and it recognizes the iPhone as connected. In the AirPlay display for the iPhone's Music app, the speakers indicated are...

RSP-1068 standby mode & optical input glitches
              by rofafor
I upgraded my hifi gears to Rotels in June. The RSP-1068 was an obvious choice and tested it with RMB-1075 amp too. However the RMB-1075 and my speaker setup (Amphion Argon 2) didn't bring the same feel of sensation as Genelec active speakers, so my RSP-1068 is now connected to a nice set of Genelec...

New gear (1068+1075), too stupid to get any sound?
              by Kyle
Trying to setup my 1068 and 1075. Have my interconnects going from the preouts on the 1068 into the 1075 and the 1075 is on (with no protection lights lit).

No matter what type of source i try (analog w/ an ipod, optical with my dvd player), I can't seem to get a peep out of the speakers....

Hi guys, I finally got moved into the new house this weekend and spent the better part of the weekend (much to my wife's dismay) hooking up the HT. I have not had a chance to calibrate anything yet, but sat down a few times to try to watch some things on the TV, just to test drive the HD cable.

              Hi folks,

Has anyone heard of a problem with Parasound Halo C2's not producing sound from the right surround channel? This only happens when I try and listen to SACD's via the 6 channel analog inputs. All digital inputs work fine. There is some low level sound from the right surround...
