    Ordered a Rotel RCD-1072

    Hi guys,
3 days ago, I ordered my RCD-1072 after reading reviews and comments on the internet. I'm the one using a $130 Sony DVD/CD player. Will let you know how it is. My setup:

    Rotel RSX-1056
    BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer
    B&W 705 mains
    B&W HTM7 Center
    B&W 600 S3 rears
    SVS 20-39 subwoofer
    Monster HTS3600 Power Center

Nice setup!! Try connecting the analog and digital from the RCD 1072 to the RSX 1056. Let me know which one sounds better to you. I have an idea what you will say but be interesting to know what you think. Cheers!!

Congratulations for the new RCD-1072! I've got mine a week ago, and it sounds great. A little harsh at the beginning but I played it overnight for about two days now to break it in, and it sounds much better today. I have connected it to Rotel RX-1052 Stereo Receiver, which has only analog inputs (no digital).

Yes, let us know what you think of it.

I'm stuck between the 1072 and the CA Azur 640c... Just can't decide what I want.

speaker cables I'm using. what do you guys think?

my interconnects are Monster M850i, main and center speakers are M1.4 bi-wires. I don't really care much about the rear speaker wires because I'm a die hard 2 ch. fan. subwoofer cable is Monster M550.

right now, I'm using both digital and analog hookups and the analog is better than digital. Sony DVD/CD player out, BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer in, BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer out, Rotel RSX-1056 CD in =

One year of use here, strictly 2 channel w/analog outs.
I've been kitchen-tabling several DIY interconnect recipes.
RCD-1072 is astounding with short low capacitance, small gauge, solid silver ICs.
In stock form the level of detail ,depth and speed :E this player can deliver with care in cabling choice downstream continues to amaze me.
Maybe this is some of the synergy Rotel achieves voicing it with the RA-1062 integrated?
Very well engineered product to put you in the acoustic of the double pianos of "Gershwins World" at this price level.

                  Hi sleeper red,

I noticed your recent posts about using the BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer with your RSX-1056 receiver. I have been thinking about doing this as well.

How does the Sonic Maximizer sound through the CD analog-ins, when you run the receiver in 5-channel stereo mode? Is it a nice improvement over regular surround mode sound?

                    Hello NewBuyer,
The sound on the 5 channel mode using the BBE is better than not using it. I just don't like listening to 5 channel. But, yes. The BBE still works with the 5 channel mode as long as you're using the CD mode on the Rotel.

I can't agree more. Just in the last week, I upgraded ICs (again!!) to 1.5' stranded silver RCAs at 23AWG total each (with teflon dielectric, and yada yada). Damn, I had never realized the true sound od Mile Davis' trumpet on 'Kind of Blue' and 'Tribute to Jack Johnson'. There is a sense of room around the instrument, and it actually has slight variations I had never noticed, and the vibration of lips against the mouthpiece is audible.
At least that's what I think it is.
At any rate, there is much more going on now, and guitars ring longer, room dynamics are clearer.
Side effect is that I'm less happy with my speakers than ever before, as most of the improvements I've mentioned are only noticeable through my headphones.

I like what the BBE Sonic Maximizer does for music.
Now that I'm getting near completing my subs, I'll be using a DEQ2496 in line with the LFE out on my receiver....and my BBE processor will only be available for my mains  . Can the DEQ simulate what the BBE does? If not I may buy the...

                          Hi all,

Maybe this is not the place to discuss this, but I have quite a problem on my hands. A couple of months ago I got me the RDV1040 at an excellent price. My aim was to go for the RCD1072, but I had budget constraints. Times have changed and I am in business for the RCD1072. However,...

Found some info on the new cd player.

Its from a german site called http://www.gute-anlage.de (translates into www.good-system.de), which is a site from the german distributor I think. They have the RCD1072 listed at 899 euro with the following text:

                          RDV (1040,1050,1060) or RCD1072 + RDV?

Hi. I mostly listen to music but occasionally watch movies. Since I place more value to listening to music should I get separate CD and DVD players? I have read that some people notice a considerable difference when playing a CD on the RDV and the RCD. If the difference is big then I would be inclined...
