Buying the Rotel RSX-1056 receiver tonight!!!

Well, my family and I are finally going to just take the plunge and buy the RSX-1056 receiver tonight!

We are all actually extremely worried about all the RSX-1056 quality-control issues we've read so much about here in these forums (i.e. hiss, pops/clicks, video dropouts, remote control issues, etc, etc, etc) - but we also read about the excellent sound quality, which our dealer also insists is true. We just can't stand waiting any more, so off we go!

We also understand that we must hope to get a "good" unit that doesn't have all the quality control issues mentioned above. We will be so happy if we can finally get a really good receiver, since we had a bad experience with home-auditioning a different brand last month, and trying to decide which receiver to try (and to afford) next has been very frustrating for us. Rotel's RSX-1056 looks like a worthy contender to try...

We've never owned a Rotel product before, and this is a major financial expenditure for us - Please wish us luck!

Best of luck NewBuyer. A few hours from now you're anxiety will be eased, you will be kicking back, setting up you're new toy, and with each passing day you will think it is one of the better investments you have made......Good Luck, and enjoy.

The QC issues are rare. I've had my 1056 for a few months now and love it to death.

      Congrats!

Please let us know how it works for you. I have been looking at the 1056 to start with and adding a 1075 amp once I sell my old speakers & receiver.

I plan to do something in the next two weeks so I'm most interested in any feedback you have.

What speakers are you running? I'll be running Paradigm Studio 40s up front, 20s in the rear and a CC470 center channel.

I hope it works out for you.

            Rotel 1056

I actually purchased the 1056 about three weeks ago and I am on my third reciever. The first one, as we say in the electronic world "let the smoke out" and that was it. The store apologized and stated this has never happened to a Rotel system before. The second reciever I got made my speakers crack constantly. Finally the dealer came to my home with a third reciever and and checked my wiring thinking it may have been the way I set up my system. Well after a few hours they set up the third reciever and now I am happy as a pig in poop. The Rotel 1056 is great, but it was a hassle.

"Thank God " I purchased from a local store! Great support!

            Fronts: B&W CM4
            Cenetr: CMC
            Sub: ASW CM
            Rears: Bose 201

I personally think the QC issues are rare in the "real world". I'm sure Rotel sells many more units than there are members on this site - that don't have problems with their gear. That being said it is still dissapointing when something goes wrong with a new purchase - it happened to me with first 1056 (popping noise).
However, I have had many receivers over the last 15 years (denon, marantz, yamaha, kenwood, technics, etc) and they don't come close to the sound of the 1056 - especially for music which I enjoy more than the movies. That plus the good looks and the build quality Rotel has.
If you do by chance get a defective unit, return and don't give up on Rotel - it is worth it. My second unit doesn't have a single issue.
People here have a real passion for Rotel because of the sound they generate. That's why when something goes wrong it is upsetting. If you purchased another brand of receiver that never sounded good in the first place you would probably be glad when it finally broke down so you could get something superior. That's what Rotel is - superior.
This is all just my opinion, but I really enjoy great sound and will definetly be purchasing more Rotel gear in the future.

                WE LOVE IT!!!

This RSX-1056 receiver is far, FAR superior than the previous one we auditioned (NAD T753) in every way. We are still experimenting with all of its features and configurability, and it is just incredible. The sound quality is amazing, in fact it is a significant step above what we have ever heard before from any A/V receiver. As far as we can tell at this early point, it has none of the quality control issues that we were worried about.

We are so glad that we took a chance on this item, as we have finally found what seems to us like the truly perfect receiver. We couldn't be more happy with our purchase. Everyone in the family loves it! The five year warranty makes us feel taken care of as well.

This is really fun and exciting!

                  mtodde,

Sorry I missed your question about what speakers we are using with the new RSX-1056 receiver. We are using a pair of Kef Coda 8 bookshelf speakers, a pair of SRS Labs Klayman Signature Series Flat Panel speakers, a matching SRS Labs Center speaker, and a Denon powered subwoofer (model DSW-40). The 2 Kefs are 6-ohm nominal and the 3 Klaymans are all 4-ohm. We were reassured many times in phone calls to Rotel that the RSX-1056 could handle 4-ohm speaker loads just fine, as long as the unit was properly ventilated with about 4" of open-air clearance around the sides and top of the unit. We do have this clearance, and find that the unit never gets too warm or has any trouble at all driving these speakers (thankfully) and it just sounds extremely good to us.

This I'm sure sounds like an odd speaker combo to use, but the Kefs and Klaymans really seem to compliment each other when used together. We are not experts by any means regarding speakers, and would really appreciate feedback from anybody here regarding speakers that might be a better match, if anyone would like to give advice and guidance (?)
