    RSP-1098 and Xbox?

OK time for my one dumb question of the month. Not even sure if this is the right place to post this, but couldnt find a better location.

I have the xbox connected via the MS component cable to the 1098, for which I get a very nice picture, but I am lacking the sound.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks

You need an optical digital (Toslink) cable. It connects to the port on the Xbox HD adapter and plugs into an available optical jack on the pre-pro. Then go into the menu on the 1098 and select the digital input you plugged the Toslink cable into.

I have got my Xbox via optical connected to mij 1068. It a 3 meter optical, since my Xbox is close to my TV and the AV system is not.

I cant imagine playing games only on stereo. Once you have tried Dolby Digital there is no way back. And it is very usefull for Halo2, people sneeking up behind....

You can also use the digital coax link on the xbox hd adapter if you dont have an optical cable handy.

              Toslink to Coaxial adapters?
              by Kyle
So, I'm going to be in a "dilemma" soon.

I currently have the following devices with digital outputs:

Xbox - toslink (I still use the xbox for xbox media center)
              Xbox 360 - toslink
              Dvd player - coaxial

I'm getting a new STB that has...

              Xbox Hdmi???
              by maseline_98
I have 2 360s(neither have HDMI)...My buddy brought his over and we tried hooking up the HDMI cable to my Sony...I noticed immediately that there was no place to plug in the optical cable to my receiver(as I don't have HDMI in). Am I missing something? My sony has an optical output on the TV. I could...

              XBox and DD 5.1
              by Greg Stone
We are about to move into our new house, and that means I get to unpack the home theater. When I hook the XBox back up, how am I going to get DD 5.1 sound? Do I have to buy the HD pack, even though I do not have a HDTV?

I know an optical cable will be required, but where will it plug...

              DVD-A/SACD Toslink or RCA?
              by Britchie
I am waiting on delivery of a denon 2900 that does SACD and DVD-A. What cables will I need to hook this up? Is the sound sent to the processor in digital format through the optical cable or will I need 5.1 interconnects to send the sound in analog format?

              I am using a Rotel 1098 w/1095...

Optical vs. coaxial digital for the 1066
              by gshisme
I have been using digital optical cable for both my DVD and HDTV satellite receiver to connect to the 1066 and my dealer yesterday told me to throw away my optical for coaxial. Huh? Everything I have read points me to optical cable. Any comments on optical vs. coaxial cable use.
