    XBox and DD 5.1

We are about to move into our new house, and that means I get to unpack the home theater. When I hook the XBox back up, how am I going to get DD 5.1 sound? Do I have to buy the HD pack, even though I do not have a HDTV?

I know an optical cable will be required, but where will it plug into on the XBox?

Would hooking up the HD pack improve the graphics on a non-HDTV??

    Help!! TIA.

Hey Greg, you do need at least the Advanced AV pack from MS. It has on the box, a connector for the Toslink. Look closely as it has a flap door that makes you think nothing is there. Connect the toslink up to your processor, power on the Xbox with out a disk and enter the set-up screen. Under the audio section, enable DD, DTS and that's all there is to it my friend.

From what I have seen of the Component (HD) to the Advanced in image quality, is marginal. If you don't have one or the other certainly pick up the HD pack. However if you already have the Advanced pack, then stay with it until you get an HDTV.

        Bing is right.
When you go into the menu screen you will not have the option to select DD or DTS,,but once the optical cable is connected,,the new menu's appear.
I am sure a lot of people miss this,,I know I did at first.

I use the advanced pack with S-vid and optical. Worked like a charm, with the CATCables Xbox kit. (S-video cable) haha
