Is this Rotel's new DVD player the RDV-1080

Saw it at highfidelityreview.com. It says its their new DVD audio player but also states that it has progressive scan. Last time I checked "progressive scan" had to do with video. I'm hoping. :E

The 1080 is about 2-3 years old and I don't think you can even get it anymore.. Looks like an old ad..

O.K. I didn't see it on their website so I thought it was new. Its strange that the current model is a 1060, you would think an older model would have a smaller #. Thanks.

        My RDV-1080 is like....

an exotic sports car from the late 60s or 70s.

Top of the line back then....barely remembered now.
A real head turner back then.....a real head scratcher now.

Thankfully I paid RDV-1040 money for mine.

I heard that Rotel is doing their Version of the Classe CDP-300. Any truth to this?

I'm not sure how much they will share (if anything) but the RDV-1092 is being released next quarter. It's in the 1060 chasis, better audio, and HDMI out at up to 1080P.

              Progressive Scan DVD Player
              by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

Will a progressive scan DVD player be of benefit?
              by P-Dub
From what I know, if I don't have a TV capable of receiving a progressive scan signal, a progressive scan DVD player is a waste of money.

However, with the prices coming down, should it be a consideration? I'm thinking about the cost of the Tosh 3750, which I've seen for C$350 and the...

              Progressive DVD/Laserdisc Player?
              by Dave D
              Hi all,

Does a DVD/LD combo player exist which supports progressive scan? It appears that my Pioneer DVL-909 DVD/LD player has become the weak link in my chain (so to speak). But Pioneer's latest DVL-919 (ca. 1999) still doesn't appear to support progressive scan. Granted, I could...

              k. so i know these exist, but what are my options? i think sony has one, but who else? i'm not planning on buying a new player right away, but i am planning on my next player. it has to be progressive scan first, sacd would be the icing on the cake. right now, the front runner is this nad 5 disc player....

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
              by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....
