    1066 Tone Controls

In my new theater I will have an acoustically transparent screen in which all 3 of my front speakers will reside. I am expecting a close to THX 'Re-EQ' roll off of my front speakers behind the screen and I was contemplating purchasing an EQ to boost the frequencies. I would of course like to save some $$ if I could achieve a similar result by boosting the treble level on the 1066 itself.

Does anyone know which speakers the treble adjustment alters? I.e. Mains? Mains+Center? All?

    TIA.

Interesting...I don't use the tone controls but I would expect them to alter all channels, not just the front L&R.

    Anyone know for sure??

I know some pre-pros treat the speakers differently when it comes to the Tone controls. Unfortunately the Rotel manual only specifies the center freq. 10khz but not which speakers are affected. My 1066 isn't currently hooked up since the room is still being taped and mudded otherwise I'd experiment myself. I'd like to know now since I am an opportunistic shopper and would prefer to go the used route for this type of purchase.

If no one knows, could someone fire up their Rotel in DD or DTS mode and play with the tone controls to find out which speakers are affected?

      TIA!

My 1066 is version 1 with software 1.50. I've noticed ever nice I got my 1066 that the tone controls only control the front L/R speakers. The strange thing I've also always noticed is that the BASS tone control increases and decreases the amount of bass to my sub. Just like increasing or decreasing the 1066's or my subs volume.

        Anyone else notice this?

If I remember correctly, the bass control is centered at 100Hz. If your crossover is set near that or at that frequency (80-120Hz) it likely would be affected by the tone control.

Thanks Bill that's probably it. For movies I keep my crossover at 80 , but for music I set it to 60. I definately notice the effect the tone control has over my subs bass at 80, but not at 60.

            Thanks

              Hi fellow Rotel-ers,
Been a happy 1066/1075/Paradigm owner for about a year. Just did the 1.5 firmware update on my 1066, I thought it might fix this, but same deal.... When I am running my DTV satellite receiver, I would like my DEFAULT audio to be 5-channel stereo. I have set it up this way...

1095 too much for Paradigm Studio 20?
              by Bill Blank
I've got a Rotel 1066/1075 combo and have been contemplating an upgrade in the amp department. I'd like the system to be a tad more effortless with music and more amplifier power is usually the solution. Thing is the 20's are only rated up to 150 watts. Now I know speaker power ratings aren't good for...
