    Hi Dougal,

Congrats on the 1068/1075 :T. I really love that combo.

    Here's what I know,

"C" goes for Cinema and "M" would be for Music. Those are two different modes of Dolby PLII

"1" means it's the number 1 optical input as there are two of these.

"48K" would suggest a sampling rate of 48kHz.

    Enjoy your new 1068/1075.

    Itai.

      Thanks alkalay
      that makes sense to me.
With regards to the 48K sampling rate,
is this the standard, or does it change, depending on the input

      cheers

The sampling rate shown can vary depending on the input. For example, playing a CD through a digital connection will show 44.1 (if I remember correctly).

And since my RSP-1068 is fairly new, I also verified yesterday that it shows '96' when playing a DTS 96/24 disk. Not too many of these in existance, but it does recognize them with no problem. And, of course, it (Queen's "The Game") sounds wonderful in this mode.

Is Dolby PLII Music supposed to sound awful?
              by Nicholas Renter
I dropped in a CD and immediately noticed that something didn't sound right (and that "awfulness" was coming from the rear speakers). Somehow, my RSP-1066 was in "Dolby PLII Music" mode.

I decided to do some investigation. I cut the output of the front left and right...

Bit rate question about MPCM on Rotel 1069
              by kmcheng
I was playing the newly released Chris Botti in Boston blu-ray disc last night, and it looks and sounds fantastic. The musicianship of all the artists are superb.

Anyway, I use the PS3 to play blu-ray, and this disc has a 96k Dolby TrueHD sound track. However, the 1069 front panel display...

              1098 PLII - X Sound Steering Issues
              by Bing Fung
Lately I have been noticing my 1098 when playing Dolby PLII sources (TV, DVD) that the steering of the centre will wander over to the mains and surrounds breifly (.5-1 sec) every now and then. Or at least that s what it sounds like. The dialog audio will just quickly output into the surrounds, and...

PLII vs DSP 5-ch on 1055
              by stewc
I watch a lot of SD video through my 1055 (analog cable channels, for example.) Two modes: through Tivo (analog audio to 1055) or Moto5100 STB (digital audio to 1055). In either case, I've been very disappointed with the 5-channel imaging of DD PLII Cinema -- seemed overly concentrated on the front-center...

              RDC PLII Question
              by gladelson
I have owned a RDC-7 for several months and there is something that I haven't figured out. My unit came with the PLII and DTS-ES upgrade. In menus 3-5 and 3-6 you can set the Prologic II mode to either "Movie" or "Music" for those surround modes (2 channel). These settings appear...
