    RSX-1065 firmware

    Hello - I'm new here... just picked up an RSX-1065 this weekend. I am running with PolkAudio LSi15 and love it!

    I do have one concern: I noticed that the firmware is 1.5.1_020702. The Rotel site says that I should upgrade to 1.57, although I noticed that there is a 2.xx numbering scheme that seems to run in parallel and require an updated EPROM. According to Rotel, "The most recent software is Versions 2.24 and 1.57". My concern is that I just bought the machine and I would expect it to be somewhat "current". While Rotel is currently supporting upgrades to 1.5x machines, I'm apparently already a version behind and may need a $ EPROM hardware upgrade down the road just to keep up with the 2.x software. Should I take the machine back to the dealer and demand that they do a 2.x upgrade now, or does it really not make any difference?

      Rob,
      your 1065 should already has the new eprom, you just need to upgrade the firmware to 1.57

      there are two series of updated units of 1065: the 1.5X and 2.X, don't ask me why, but my understanding is, these two units are newer, and I believe yours is even newer than the one comes with 2.X Mine was bought in October, 2002 and came with 2.21 at that time. Folks that bought after me had 1.5X Hope it helps...

          As strange as it may sounds, the firmware starting with 1.49 for the RSX-1065 is the newer range. So you have a new RSX-1065.

          Here is a complete overview of the firmware (old and new line).

          The newest firmware 1.55 of 1.56 (I don't know exactly) can you obtain by mailing ROTEL.
