The 1056 has newer, much more powerful processing chips, the latest and greatest code for Dolby Pro Logic (IIx), and more user programmability and flexibility. My dealer and earlier posts here generally indicate that the sound quality through the 1056 is superior to the 1055. If you are getting a great deal on the 1055 and cost is a mjor factor, go for it. Otherwise, the consensus seems to be that you will be better off and happier with the 1056.- Bottom

The reason I'm contemplating this...-

I have posted in the past about Rotel but ended up with a Primare ht amp which I did like but was frustrating to use and frustratingly unreliable so it's been sold and I'm back to Rotel again.
My plan is to have a 2 ch and surround using the same speakers but with a ht amp...-
