    Rsx1055/1056

    Hello,

Last week i tried out the RSX1055. I can tell you all that i was very impressed, but now i am doubting if i should go for the 1055 or the 1056.
The following things could be important for me.

Equalizing each channel apart. (speakers are not off one brand)

moving the soundstage (is this possible with DD and DTS or only with
    prologic

The new software off the 1056.

    Not important:

Dolby prologic 11x (i will not play with 7 speakers.)

Now the price difference is 300 euro what would you advice me and why
Also will i get much more quality for my money when i buy the 1056 or is it
    not that much.

    Greetings from Holland

    Hey bud!

    Welcome!

I`d go for the 1056....actually I did!

    better processor.....better video...meaning the upconversion....

    Pro Logic IIx

Question though...what are you talkin`about with moving the soundstage ?

and equalizing each channel...if you mean by SPL level...they both do it....
Got a nice rack to show me ?

      Bam,

With the soundstage I mean that it would be possible to let the sound
come more towards the listener (I did read that in the manual but my englisch is not that good, so it could be that I didn,t understand it right)
By equalizing I mean treble/bas for each speaker apart

I think he's referring to the center width and how much info is sent rearward etc. As DD and DTS are already 5.1 in most cases, you can't adjust what goes in the center/surrounds as that info was already mixed in studio and placed on the DVD.

I'd personally need a pretty deep dscount on the 1055 to go for it over the 1056. Better sound quality/processing would be the main reason for that. So if you can get a REALLY good price on the 1055, go for it. Otherwise get the better performance of the 1056.

Buddy...I know we are on the internet an I hate guys that say buy this cause it`s good......but I am actually gonna do that....

            1056 and don`t look back....

I have shopped receivers like a madman.....I have checked them all....and cause of here I waited an extra month for the 1056 to come out (Thanks Jason, Andrew!)

My buddies have the 1055...whenever they come over to my place they always talk about trading in their 1055 but what a nasty bite off the @ss they get on trade against the 1056....

Sonically it is way better....In 2 channel....it`s the same but in cinema it is better than the 1055....The features and OSD are a lot better too.....oh and Pro Logic IIx rules!

Just my 2 cents.....and don`t let me influence you! You`ll love it....trust me.

The Denon 3805 was a little better in Cinema sound....but sonically the Rotel sweeps it up....the sound quality of Roetl is true...real and very dynamic...and don`t let the 75watts fool you....

75 watts is all channel driven where as others like Denon is on 2 channel mode in a controlled environment....

Do I need Dolby 11x when I only use 5 speakers?

No but it's good if you ever upgrade to 7.1 and "regular" DPLII is quite nice also for us "schlubs" with only 5.1 systems

He's talking about me here!! :M (Bam you always have to twist the blade before you remove it hein!!)

I have the 1055, but I went to Bam's place and played around a bit in the menus of his 1056 and I would go for it...

Also, 1055 must be hard to find now...a big big discount is needed to get a 1055 instead of the 1056!...

Get the 1055 cheaper, save money for a few months, get a RB-1095, save some more money and start suffering of upgradus sensiblious and get the RSP-1098...in less than a year, you'll be in sweet business!!

No idea why, but the Europe part of rotel.com is always behind the Nth American site. Here's your manual...
