    Upgrade advice

Looking to upgrade from my current Yammie, and the driving criteria is 2-ch performance. As I already have a high performance 2-ch power amp (ME-550II)
    do I

    1. buy the 1056 and pre-out to the ME

    2. Buy a RSP-1066 and RMB-1066 (bridge the power amp to 3-ch + ME)

In a nutshell, is the pre-amp in the RSP-1066 significantly better than that in the 1056 ?

    Regards

It is definately an option where you will want to listen to the RSP-1068, and RSX-1056 for your'e self. I did an A/B test with mine and bought the 1068. 2 channel was my biggest concern. Had I not been able to do a side by side the 1056 may very well be setting in my rack right now. Either will make a noticable improvement over your'e Yamaha, I came to Rotel from there.

You didn't say what Yamaha Receiver you are upgrading from? I did something similar I upgraded from a Yamaha RX-V3000 and puchased a discounted RSP-1066. I wouldn't recommend buying the RMB-1066 and bridging it. Better option might be the RSP-1068 and 5 ch RMB-1075 which you won't need to bridge to get reasonable power and you would have a couple of spare amps in the 1075 to drive either a future 7.1 setup or zone 2 area, I think you will find there isn't a big difference in cost after the normal discounts etc.

          RSX-1067 or RSX-1056 from a RSP1066
          by lvs
I am moving away from separates to simplify my Home Theater a bit, and just sold an ATI 1506 and Rotel RSP-1066. I am looking for a comparable-in-quality receiver to replace the separates. It sounds like the pre-amp sections are the same on each RSX receiver and equivalent feature-wise (connections...

          RSX 1056 and 1070 or 1080 ?
          by Stev
I already have the 1056 and was decided on getting the 1070 to improve the 2ch SQ over the 1080 due to the posted problems with the 1080 - dont seem to exist with the 1070. My mains are 4 ohm nominal load. Question is given that the RSX 1056 is 100w in 2ch will the 1070's extra 30w be noticeable ? Or...

          RSX-1056/RB-1080 Questions
          by sweiss42
Hi I just joined. I have a RSX-1056 and use it in a 5 channel system. It drives B&W 703s for the front mains. I thought I needed a little more power to drive the front speakers and got a rb-1080. I thought going from 75W->200W would make it sound better and for some of the music I play allot...
