    RSX-1055 Receiver question

Hey guys. I am new here. I searched and could not find anything about my question. I have a rotel rsx-1055 receiver and I want to plug my acoustic guitar into is so I can jam out at home. I have a passive mono pickup attached to my guitar. I asked Rotel how I can plug it into my receiver and they said to use a 3.5mm mono plug and plug into an analog input.

The problem is, there is no 3.5mm analog input. Should I be able to just us an rca adapter and plug it into my rca audio input? I bought a stereo adapter and I could not get it to work. Does it have to be a mono adapter?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Yes a mono RCA adaptor will work, you may want to plug into the phono input if your'e reciever has one with your'e p/u being passive.

Thank you for the reply. My receiver does not have a phono plug. It does have a tape in, would that be better than using the cd in or regular audio in?

Also, am I going to have to crank the amp to get any sound out of it?

You think it might hurt my speakers? I have the B&W DM 600 series speakers. I surely don't want to damage them.

Not sure, but I red somewhere, sometimes (don't remember where and when) that someone plugged his electric guitar in his 2ch system and it blew off the tweets and busted the mids at the first chord!!!

I have seen several audio speakers over the years get damaged by playing musical instruments through them.

Musical instrument speakers are designed for greater linear cone excursions than hi-fi speakers. There is no limiting or compression, as in most recorded music/soundtracks, when you are strumming a guitar or pounding the keys on a keyboard.

I don't think low volume playing would be a problem, but anything more, and you would be taking a risk.

Recently purchased the Philips DVD963SA player to go with my RSX1055 receiver. I run my speakers as small on the receiver and was wondering if I should do the same in the DVD players setup for multi input?

Also I have noticed that when I change from the Co-ax input (receivers decoder),...

I have a Yamaha receiver with 5.1 surround sound hooked to. I just purchased a Clark Synthesis sound transducer along with a AudioSource Amp One/A, which they recommended to me. I am trying to hook the transducer up via mono (bridged) mode on the amp... I am fine with that part. My problem occurs...

                Hello all,

Have been lurking through various HT forums for some time but new to Club Rotel. I have learnt much and have improved my system greatly with the advice I've learnt. However, I am looking to upgrade within a limited budget, and a limited physical space and wish some advice....

Yet another newbie question from someone who has had the RSX1055 long enough that they should know the answer, but... I've done a search here, checked out the FAQs on the Rotel site and read the manual, but can't seem to find anything about HOW you place the receiver in analog bypass mode. Is it as...

I recently purchased a Harman Kardon AVR240 as well as a Behringer EP1500 to power my subwoofer. I have connected them from the subwoofer pre-out on the receiver to the behringer input through a shielded male-to-male rca cable which...
