No input signal to amp from receiver?

Newbie here, didn't know where to post this question.

I recently purchased a Harman Kardon AVR240 as well as a Behringer EP1500 to power my subwoofer. I have connected them from the subwoofer pre-out on the receiver to the behringer input through a shielded male-to-male rca cable which connects to a 1/4" unbalanced mono jack adapter.

I've tried everything but I cannot get the EP1500 to receive a signal (the signal light doesn't even light up).

    Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Have you checked the settings in the HK for the sub and base management?
Below is a quote from page 28 of the manual. If it is set to LFE all you will get is LFE effects. If it is set for SUB LFE+L/R, you will get all base below the setpoint of the base management (100 hz default) + LFE.

    • If a subwoofer is connected and you wish to have
the front left/right “main” speakers reproduce bass
frequencies at all times, and have the subwoofer
operate only when the AVR 240 is being used with
a digital source that contains a dedicated Low-
Frequency Effects, or LFE, soundtrack, press the
‹/› Buttons on the remote so that LFE
    appears in the on-screen menu.
    • If a subwoofer is connected and you wish to use
it for bass reproduction in conjunction with the
main front left/right speakers, regardless of the
type of program source or Surround mode, press
the ‹/› Buttonsoon the remote so that
SUB LFE+L/R appears in the on-screen
menu. When this option is selected, a full-range
signal will be sent to the front left/right “main”
speakers, and the subwoofer will receive the
bass frequencies under frequency selected, as
described below, as well as the LFE information.

I also read somewhere in these forums about differences between the balanced and unbalanced adaptor jacks. Are you sure you are using the correct adaptor?

I have tried every concievable setting on the AVR240 regarding the sub and still no output through the pre-outs. I wish I had another receiver with pre-outs I could test the amp with but unfortunately I don't.

I've read that unbalanced connectors are needed for this, any input?

Could you try one of the other rca outputs from the receiver to see if you get any input into the berringer?

Do you have a receiver with tape outputs?

I tried the other rca preouts for the other channels, none gave a signal to the amp.

Unfortunately I have no receiver with tape outputs or preouts of any kind to test with.

Could it be that I'm using an unbalanced 1/4" jack when it might require a balanced jack?

According to this thread https://www.htguide.com/forum/showth...ight=Behringer the unbalanced would be correct. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. You might try posting your question in the
Mission Possible DIY https://www.htguide.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6 forum. There are a lot of guys over there that use Behringer amps.
