Hi guys. Another Rotel convert here. I need a bit of advice from the experts and owners. I bought a pair of B&W 801 Matrix SIII recently and added a RMB-1095 to add a bit of power. Im in the process of changing to the RSP 1068 as well , but here is the crunch. Do i buy another RMB-1095 and bi-amp the B&W's or do i go with the RB-1090. I like the idea of more power for the speakers hence the 1090 but .... want the convenience of a trigger on like the 1095. My side speakers are B&W 604 S3 and my rears B&W 640i's. The bottom line is ... convenience of connection ie trigger on or higher power re the 1090 or would the bi-amping via 2 1095's more or less give the same control a 1090 give . BTW ... great site , have been following it for months and it helped with my initial choice.

If you can afford it 2 1095s is a great way to go, that way you can bi-amp all the speakers and essential push 400 watts to them....even though each part of the speaker will only technically see 200 watts. Plus you will have the 12volt trigger and will be all set!Digital Audio makes me Happy.

Oh i forgot to mention at some stage i want to add a B&W HTM1 for the centre. So yes the idea of biamping all 3 front speakers is appealing to maintain the same audio signature regarding the amps . But the idea of more power for the 801's is bugging me .- Bottom

Have you thought of maybe trying an Earthquake CineNova Grande 3 or 5 or 7 (not sure if 7 is available yet)...
That's 335 watts (typically) per channel and it can dish out whatever you need at whatever levels... If you have the money it is definitely something to consider.Digital Audio makes me Happy.

Unfortunately living in South Africa certain brands are not available to us. Earthquake is one of them , only the more popular global brands are available which is extremely dissapointing. So my choice is more or less limited to Rotel without getting too expensive or exotic. Aarsoe have you been able to compare the sound of the 1090 and the 1095 on your 801's ?- Bottom

I would definetly go for the RB-1090. The 801 will benefit really much by the addition of the RB-1090! The 1095 will alone easily drive the speakers from the 600-series.
And you will get a lot better two-channel sound with the rb1090 than with double 1095...

If you like more power(RB1090) you do have the option to buy a 12 volt trigger line conditioner. This will allow you to trigger any amp via 12 volts from you preamp. The RLC1050 would be the best, plus you can configure your On and Off time.
Keep in mine that when you add any additional amplifiers to your system you can introduce different ground potential between equipment which means 60 cycle hum.
Good Luck!!Rotel For Life :T- Bottom

Thanks guys. I will try to get the dealer to lend me a 1090 and see if i can compare it with a bi amped 1095, this would probably be the best way to go about it. The RLC 1050 i think is not an option really, i see it as a waste of money and guess im not that lazy but would have been nice from a convenience point to have a trigger on the 1090.- Bottom

I would also second the RB-1090 recommendations. It's a great amp for the money. I have it and love it.
The 12-volt trigger (or lack of one) doesn't both me as I leave my amps on all the time. I would not go with the Rotel line conditioner. Save the money and get the Monster line conditioners as they will help you with any hum issues while cleaning your power.

by hired goonG'day,
I bought a second-hand RB-1090 yesterday, and have a couple of questions:
- The seller couldn't find the original power cord that came with the amp. I'm currently using a standard power cord. Is this adequate, or did the 1090 come with a higher quality power cord? Does

by radimWhich of these mix are best for biamping in this price category ?
One 1075 is basic. Biamping for main speakers - of course for stereo.
1. 1075 + 1075
2. 1075 + 2 x 1070
3. 1075 + 1090 (no biamping)-

by HenkHaving spent months agonising about choosing the right amp for my system I finally decided on the 1090. Placed the order, took delivery, only to find that I cannot power on the amp by remote via a 12 volt trigger link between my 1098 processor and the amp. Big disappointment, so much so that my dealer...-
