Question about Analog Bypass on RSP-1098

    All,
I have been thinking of getting the Rotel 1072 CD player. As it has very good DACs on board, I intend to connect to my RSP-1098 controller with analog cables.

There is a section in the manual that says that all analog inputs are upconverted to digital signals. It seems to imply that the analog bypass is available only on the multi-channel inputs. These inputs, however, have already been used up on my RSP-1098 by the Denon 1600 player which I use for DVD-Audio playback.

Can someone please clarify if what I say above is true or not?
It true, then what is the solution for using analog bypass on the inputs from my soon-to-arrive 1072?

    Thanks,
    Viji

    G'day,

I have been thinking of getting the Rotel 1072 CD player. As it has very good DACs on board, I intend to connect to my RSP-1098 controller with analog cables.
I have the RSP-1068 pre-processor and the RCD-1072 CD player. The 1072 connects via analog cables to the CD input of the 1068. I use analog bypass when listening to CDs.

Analog bypass is not restricted to the multi-channel analog inputs.

      Thanks, Geoff.
My question then would be if there is an option in the controller menu to turn analog bypass on/off for any selected input. I may not have paid attention to it as I don't have any analog connections to my controller yet.

        Geoff,

The following is all I could find in the manual about analog bypass.
It only talks about an analog bypass surround mode.
What does it mean? Do you have to connect your CD analog outs to the L/R channels of the multi-channel input section?

Could you please tell me how you have setup your 1072-1098 combo?

NOTE: Normally, the RSP-1098 converts analog
inputs to digital signals. All of the digital
processing is available including bass management,
        digital crossovers, speaker level and
delay settings and a number surround mode
options including 2-ch stereo, Dolby Pro Logic
II, etc. Alternatively, there is an analog bypass
surround mode that routes 2-ch analog
inputs directly to the Volume control and
preamp outputs, bypassing the digital processing
        entirely for pure analog stereo.

On my RSP-1068, there is are buttons to select stereo (left, front, sub), analog bypass (left, right only, no processing), 5 channel stereo, etc.

I'm pretty sure I can set up the 1068 so that selecting "CD" will automatically switch to anaolog bypass mode. I would assume the 1098 also has the same feature.

I don't know why the 1098 manual mentions "analog bypass surround mode". On my 1068, I connect the CD player to the CD analog inputs, and can select analog bypass mode when listening to a CD. The 1098 would have the same option.

No true analog bypass on RSP-1066???
                by Martinf
Prior to committing to a multi-channel pre-amp (RSP-1066), I’ve been studying the specifications and user manuals for both the Rotel RSP-1066 and very new RSP-1098.

                1. Some observations from RSP-1098 manual:-

                (a) On page 13 in the RSP-1098 manual it has an explicit...

Is there an analog bypass for CD input on RSP-1098
                by vsarathy
                All,

I didn't get any answers from 1098 owners on a related thread that I had started earlier. So, I thought that I would pose a more direct question to those that own a 1098.

In so far as I can figure out, the analog bypass seems to exist on the 1098 only when you are...

Yet another newbie question from someone who has had the RSX1055 long enough that they should know the answer, but... I've done a search here, checked out the FAQs on the Rotel site and read the manual, but can't seem to find anything about HOW you place the receiver in analog bypass mode. Is it as...

                RDC-7 multi-channel analog bypass
                by Audioclyde
Hi, I'm considering replacing my Meridian 568 with a pre/pro to get multi-channel analog bypass. There seems to be many things I like about the RDC-7 (can't audition, no dealers close); I keep questioning the quality of the MC analog bypass, however, because of the 25 pin input (in contrast to RCA jacks)....
