RSX 1055 locked out on standby power

I've owned this receiver for about 1 1/2 years now, from day one the remote control/ ir strength has been really weak. I originally set the powering up of the unit with the "direct" mode, because of the POS remote response.

I recently upgraded to a MX-500 universal remote. After "leaning" all the buttons from the rotel remote to the URC remote, I found that using either remote, the unit would power on/off properly, using the direct mode.

I then switched over to the "standby" mode in the OSD. I powered the unit off, (went into standby), but now, using either remote, it won't come out of standby! I tried unplugging the unit and /or pushing the power bottom manually, with no success.

    Any suggestion?

If you have it plugged into a surge prot. try turning off the protector for about 3 -5 secs then turn it back on.It worked for me on rsx1056.

Well, after letting it sit for a while unplugged, tried again and it came back on! I quickly changed it back to "direct".

Come to find out, both remotes would turn unit off, but neither would turn it back on. So when I put it in standby, which requires an "on" signal for a remote, nothing would happen.

Does this mean that Rotel uses different discreet codes for the power "on" and "off" signal? Have a call into Rotel service....

BTW, Is anyone using a Home Theater Master MX-500 with their 1055, and if so, could you get a pre program code to work? Can you pass it along? Thanks, John

I own a Marantz SR5600 and have built the front 3 speakers. The impedances dip low in some spots for these speakers, but I've not had any issues until today. I typically listen with the volume at -29, but for movies or music when I want them loud I go as high as -13, but -19 or -17 usually does the...

RC-418M remote locked up, won't reset.
          by aredant
I have a RC-418M remote control that I use with my DTR7.1 receiver.
It's not unusual to accidentally press the wrong keys, but this unit seems to be stuck in limbo mode. It was stuck with the display "M-09". Could not cancel out. I followed the directions to reset. Hold down ON/RESET...

          RSP-1098 STANDBY Mode
          by daidavel
The manual says that in Standby mode you have to press the power on the front of the unit, or use the power on the remote control to turn the unit on. I'm finding that pressing ANY key on the remote turns on the unit. This is a little bit annoying, because I have a Pronto Remote, which I have programmed...

releasing RSP 1066 from Standby mode
          by n3philim
I was wondering if someone can help.

I usually set my RSP-1066 on standby when I leave the house. How do you power up the unit coming from standby mode using the unit's front panel (not using the remote)?
