    Narrowing down my amp choices

I am still trying to figure out which way to go with amps for my Wharfedale Opus 3s. I think I have narrowed it down a bit. Sunfire & Aragon are out, they are a little too warm. Sherbourn OK for the price but for a little more $ you get a lot better quality. NAD great for the price but I would like more than 140w per/channel.

So that leaves Halo A51 and Gemstone. Only main difference is the Gemstone is 7x200 VS Halo 250X5… I’m leaning towards the gemstone purely for the 2 extra channels and then not needing a second amp for a 7.1 setup…

But should I also be looking at Rotel 1095? How does it sound and compared to the Halo A51 and/or Gemstone? Has anyone matched the 1095 with an Opus 3?

Vivid though I don't have your speakers, I do have Paradigm Studio(v3) 40/ADP-450/CC-570 which have been powered by a Rotel RMB-1095 and now a NAD S250. Performance wise I have heard no difference, even though the NAD is 75w less per channel. For the money right now the NAD S250 is a bargain at $999(New in Box). You should give it a look.

      A51 VS Gemstone
      by vivid
Has anyone heard both of these amps and could you give me your impressions on them?

What I have gathered so far is that they are both excellent amps with a slightly forward leaning neutral sound. The main difference it that the A51 is 5x250 and the Gemstone is 7X200. I am leaning towards...

I've been re-structuring my Audio and Home Theater systems. For months now I 've been auditioning, researching and deciding the components for these systems.

I've made some decisions on some of the components, but others still remain to be made.

      I'm wondering if these...

      Amp gain question
      by ht_addict
I just replaced my Rotel RMB-1095 with a NAD S250 and noticed on the back that the NAD has gain controls for each channel. Do I set the controls to max which is the THX setting or min to minimize background noise.

      Converting 120V to 240V ?
      by Charl
Does anyone know how I can get a 110-120V 60Hz power amp to work on 220-240V 50Hz ?
I can purchase a NAD S250 (5x125W) power amp at a ridiculous price, but the problem is that it is a US version and I need to get it to work on our local power supply.
The local NAD importer is not able...
