Progressive scan between 1060 and 1098

    Hello,

I bought a Rotel system a couple of weeks ago and I’m very happy with it.

For all of my questions I searched the forum, but now I have a problem and I can’t find the solution on the forum…

Last week I bought cables to link my dvd-player 1060 to my 1098 en connect it to my plasma screen. Ofcourse I bought component cables because I read that it is the best connection. But now when I switch to progressive scan the image of the dvd-player is not visible on the 1098 even if I switch it to progressive. I’ve read something that it’s not possible even if you have a composite cable connected.. But is there no upgrade or something to convert this..

I bought everything from the same brand so that it works perfectly, but now…….

I hope someone has a solution.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dennis

Many DVD players disable their composite and S-video outputs when they're switched to progressive mode. Doing it this way allows the player to be manufactured more cheaply (only one set of video DACs are required).

The only solutions I can think of are to switch to interlaced mode or get a player that can output interlaced composite and progressive component at the same time. If your plasma has a good deinterlacer built in you may not notice a difference between interlaced in progressive mode on your player, in which case, just leave it in interlaced.

P.S. Looking at the RDV-1060 manual, there's no mention of the composite/S-video outputs being disabled in progressive mode, though the manual does state to only use progressive mode on "HDTV-ready sets". I'm guessing the interlaced outputs are disabled in progressive mode.

The 1040 & 1050 disable the standard outputs in progressive. Wouldn't be too much of a hassle if they would have put a progressive button on the front.. I just set the switch to remote select and use the remote to keep it in interlace until the movie starts..

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
        by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....

Rotel 1060 Video connection with 1098/Plasma.
        by >>Angel<<
        Dear Rotel enthousiasts,

Yesterday I bought a Pioneer plasma screen to complete my Rotel setup
After concluding all the (required) connections I found out that there's a problem displaying (progressive or not) an 1060 image on the Plasma screen.
        I really hope...

        RDV-1 Progressive scan problem...
        by mthecatlover
        Goodevening everyone,

I am new on this forum with a question about the rdv-1.
In the progessive scan mode the subtitles are blurred and not sharp.
There are horizontal lines over the letters. And they flicker.
In Interlaced mode is everything alright.
        What...

When I use my Rotel RDV-1060 in Progressive Scan mode, the picture quality actually seems to be more "grainy" and much darker. Has anyone else experienced this? Comments? Is my unit defective?

Rotel RDV-1060 vs SoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic
        by slaikan
I decided to upgrade my 5 Year old SB Live sound card in my PC to a X-Fi ExtremeMusic. Made a huge difference to how my PC speakers sounded. I then was interested to see how it compared to a RSP-1068/RDV-1060. I've been lurking around on these forums and have noticed a few people have gone the PC audio...
