    RDV-1 Progressive scan problem...

    Goodevening everyone,

I am new on this forum with a question about the rdv-1.
In the progessive scan mode the subtitles are blurred and not sharp.
There are horizontal lines over the letters. And they flicker.
In Interlaced mode is everything alright.
    What is the problem?
    Is it in the setup?
    Glad to hear from anyone.
    Greetings, Marc

Welcome to HT Guide Forum and Club Integra. Thank you for posting your question here.

Now a few questions for you.

    1) Is your RDV-1 connected to a progressive-scan-capable TV display via component cables? That is a requirement for the RDV-1's progressive scan output to work properly.

    2) Have you selected "Auto" for "Progressive Conversion" in Setup? If you have selected "Video" or "Film" and then play the other, it is quite possible to get some strange effects, especially on text output.

    3) Do you have "Edge Enhance" turned "Off" for the Progressive memory you are using? That should be off anyway, because it can wreak havoc on an otherwise OK picture, and its bad effects would be especially noticeable on text output.

If none of those troubleshooting tips are applicable to your situation -- you have already got component cables connected, Progressive Setup is already "Auto" and "Edge Enhance" is "off" and the subtitle problem is still what you described -- then let's hope interlaced give you a nice picture while we try to come up with some other suggestions on things to try. :>)

      RDV-1 Progressive scan problems.

      Good afternoon Burke.

      Thanks for your reply.

I read your options that you discribed, but they were already right adjusted.
The tv is a plasma Panasonic. Progressive scan, component, hdmi.
So the tv is not the problem.
If I switch the rdv-1 to interlaced, the subtitles are alright. Very strange!!
There is also a beamer connected to the rdv-1. Same problems here with the
      subtitles.
First I thougt the interscaler of the beamer was the problem (Faroudja),
but on both the beamer and the plasma the subtitles are not good. (Progressive Scan modus).
Is it possible that the component connections on the rear of the rdv-1, the connections with the rca interlinks, may not be connected together?
I mean one for the beamer one for the plasma?
I do not watch the two connections at the same time....
The bnc connections are not in use.
I have the two other components from Integra RDA-7 and RDC-7.
Never heard a sound so clear and so smooth as on these three machines.
All speakers are Klipsch 7.1 connected.
Hope there is a solution for my problem,
      Greetings Marc Reijnen Veldhoven (Holland)

1068: Problem switching between progressive inputs
        by McLovin
        G'day,

I am having an issue with my RSP-1068 and progressive scan inputs.

I have three video input devices hooked up to the 1068: a set-top box, a DVD player, and an Xbox (on V1, V2, and V3 inputs respectively). The 1068 is then connected to my TV (a Sony LCD). All inputs...

        Progressive Scan DVD Player
        by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
        by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....

Will a progressive scan DVD player be of benefit?
        by P-Dub
From what I know, if I don't have a TV capable of receiving a progressive scan signal, a progressive scan DVD player is a waste of money.

However, with the prices coming down, should it be a consideration? I'm thinking about the cost of the Tosh 3750, which I've seen for C$350 and the...

        Progressive DVD/Laserdisc Player?
        by Dave D
        Hi all,

Does a DVD/LD combo player exist which supports progressive scan? It appears that my Pioneer DVL-909 DVD/LD player has become the weak link in my chain (so to speak). But Pioneer's latest DVL-919 (ca. 1999) still doesn't appear to support progressive scan. Granted, I could...
