    RSP 1098/1068 and HDTV

Good day. I am ugrading from my RSP-985, due to its lack of component inputs/output and my television only having one component input, in order to take advantage of Comcast adding HDTV in my area. Has anyone had any problems or issues with either the 1098 or 1068 and HDTV? Thank you.

Nope, none here.. Some people (myself included) have had some issues with the upconversion to component from composite/s-video, but we are in the extreme minority.

      Lou,
I am currently using my RSP-1098 hooked-up to my HDTV via component cables. I have both my Comcast HD Box and RDV-1060 connected to my RSP-1098 via component cables (to view on the big screen), composite video cable (to view on the 1098's TFT/LCD screen) and still have another set of component plugs (on the RSP-1098) open for another component source for future use. All works fine. Just be sure to use a digital coaxial (or optical if possible) to connect from your Comcast Box to the RSP-1098 to take advantage of digital sound.

Fortunately I have had no problems with upconversion. I've got my Sega Dreamcast (composite) and VHS (S-video) hooked-up and both convert well to my HDTV via component connection.

If you need any further assistance, don't hesitate to ask!

      Joe

None here either. I run my cable box (Comcast 6208), OTA STB, DVD, and VCR, all which support 720p and 1080i through my 1098's 4 component inputs with no issues whatsoever.

            Component to s-video/composite conversion

            Hi all,

I am an owner of a 1098. I have an XBOX 360 with component out that I have plugged into the 1098. I am trying to get the picture BOTH on my projector through component, AND on the LCD display. The video out kit on the xbox has a switch to switch between HD (720p, 1080i or 1080p)...

What'a an HDTV without one of these?

I've wanted to taste HDTV for a long time. But I quitely sat on the side line, because I had an RPTV I paid quite a lot for, that just happened to be bought just before HD came out. (lucky me) Had I done the prudent thing, I would have...

What DVD player should I get for this HDTV?
            by cisco
I am about to buy a Zenith 40" 16:9 HD-Ready Rear-Projection TV with DVI Input, 480p/1080i progressive scan, Model R40W46. It has DVI, Component, S-Video, and Composite inputs. I will be using the TV mostly for DVD movies.

Is it worth getting a DVD player with upconversion? How...

            "Digital" TVs, deciphering the terms.
            by Dean McManis
"Digital" is a buzzword today, and it is regularly abused. Most "digital" cable is NOT transferring high definition digital signals, but they are transferring the 480i NTSC analog signals into digital format, so that they can compress them, to get more channels across the line. So...

            TFT Screen Composite Input Workaround?
            by Ethek
I just purchased a RSP-1098 and discovered to my dismay, that my DVD player (Sony DVPNS999ES) only outputs to one video connection at a time, i.e. if cables are attached to the component video out (to the monitor) and composite video out (to the RSP), the 999ES defaults to the component only. The other...
