    rotel rsp 976

Putting a system together consisting of a rmp 1066 powering two pairs of
Bohlender-Graebener ribbon speakers and center channel. Looking at a rsp 976 as pre/pro. Has anyone experienced the rsp 976? Are there any issues regarding the rsp 976? Would the rsp 976 be a match? I am also considering using the rmp 1066 in a biamped mode for the LF/RF/CC and having a small 2 ch amp for the rears. Any advice and/or comments would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

The RSP976 had issues with locking onto the DTS signal and some had problems with a faulty centre channel. The one I had suffered from the DTS bug but apparently they fixed that shortly after I returned mine to the dealer. If you're getting a really good deal on it it might be worth looking at otherwise I might suggest a more modern alternative. Is home theater or audio more important to you?

Home theater is the first choice.

        Hi,

Stay away from the 976 - nightmare! Rotel's early venture into HT receiver's. I had 3 models that were full of issues such as bad EPROMS, overheating, loud hissing from channels, etc. In all fairness, the DTS algorithim was changed after early versions of this unit was released. Newer models addressed this shortcoming and fixed many of the quality control issues that were a result of parts losening during shipments.

Listen to Andrew and go for a newer model.

        Chris

I feel I must stick up for the 976. I had one for 18 months before upgrading to the 1066, and it did a great job. In fact, I didn't want to sell it, but my wife liked the looks of the 1066 better and wanted DPLII (it didn't hurt that my dealer gave me a tremendous price). The 976 served me very well with nary a worry. It was a great introduction to Rotel.

            Hi,

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now. Right now I'm running two channels B&W CM1/CM2s and an audiolab 8000. I'm looking to get something for video switching and a later expansion into home theater. I've been eyeballing either a used 976 or maybe a 1066. I don't

life with rsp 1068 vs 1066 vs 1098
            by rosros
In feb I had a chance of comparing side by side the rsp 1098 with the rsp 1066. at the time, I was thinking about upgrading from the 1066 to the 1098. the rsp 1098 was a loaner from my rotel dealer. I had the 1098 for one week. Although the 1066 is a wonderful unit, for my usage, ultimately, it was...

is it Dts, 1066 or me?

Hey guys I may or may not have an issue. I noticed when I watch regular satelite programing with DTS I have zero sub sounding bass. With dolby digital on the same station I do. I have watched movies with DTS and never noticed the lack of sub. When I select DTS I made sure it was cinema not music, although...

            RSP 1098 to 1066 Comparison?
            by Aussie Geoff
Hi, as part of my "lets convince myself to buy a 1098 instead of a 1066" process, I (and I'm sure many other readers of this forum) would really like some real world feedback from people who have compared the sound of the two pre-pros.

The kind of questions I have / information
