Hey all,
I just recently bought an RSX-1067 and RCD-1072 CD player. I'm really loving the sound and enjoying the music right now...at least for the most part. For my main speakers, I have Axiom M80's ti's (excellent speaker btw), which run at 4 ohms. Now the 1067 will physically drive these puppies. However, they do sound a bit strained or congested. And the 1067 gets really really hot when driving them for more than an hour or so at moderate volume levels of 36-40. I've been told Rotel tends to run hot....but I'm re-heating a piece of pizza on my 1067 as I write this. 8O
For comparison, I borrowed 2 sets of 8 ohm speakers (B&W 705 and 805), and ran them for about 4 hours on decently high volume levels of 58-66. The 1067 still got hot, just not skin-searing hot like it does with the M80's.
I'm wondering if either I'm doing something wrong with the 1067....or if separates would just be better with my Axioms? If so, what combo would you choose:
RSP-1066 pre/pro with RMB-1095 amp
RSP-1068 pre/pro with RMB-1075 amp
My dealer still has a couple 1066's brand new in the box, and is selling them at a pretty decent discount. As such, the 1066/1095 would cost about the same as the 1068/1075 combo (within a hundred bucks anyway). Where will I see my biggest benefit, for the larger 1095 amp or the newer (and supposedly) better 1068 pre/pro?
Any tips or opinions would really help. Thanks!
RJ
