Which is the better combo - 1066/1095 or 1068/1075

    Hey all,

I just recently bought an RSX-1067 and RCD-1072 CD player. I'm really loving the sound and enjoying the music right now...at least for the most part. For my main speakers, I have Axiom M80's ti's (excellent speaker btw), which run at 4 ohms. Now the 1067 will physically drive these puppies. However, they do sound a bit strained or congested. And the 1067 gets really really hot when driving them for more than an hour or so at moderate volume levels of 36-40. I've been told Rotel tends to run hot....but I'm re-heating a piece of pizza on my 1067 as I write this. 8O
For comparison, I borrowed 2 sets of 8 ohm speakers (B&W 705 and 805), and ran them for about 4 hours on decently high volume levels of 58-66. The 1067 still got hot, just not skin-searing hot like it does with the M80's.
I'm wondering if either I'm doing something wrong with the 1067....or if separates would just be better with my Axioms? If so, what combo would you choose:
    RSP-1066 pre/pro with RMB-1095 amp
    RSP-1068 pre/pro with RMB-1075 amp
My dealer still has a couple 1066's brand new in the box, and is selling them at a pretty decent discount. As such, the 1066/1095 would cost about the same as the 1068/1075 combo (within a hundred bucks anyway). Where will I see my biggest benefit, for the larger 1095 amp or the newer (and supposedly) better 1068 pre/pro?
Any tips or opinions would really help. Thanks!

Are you running a 5.1 or 7.1 system? 5 channels of amplification will apparently be enough for now? I own the 1075 and IMO it is a beauty, I am running quite efficiant Klipsch speakers, but have to believe it would still be quite a performer with speaks of lesser impedance. The 1068 will give you 2 channel that the 1066 won't match. I believe also it has an enhanced dolby soundfield that the 1066 doesn't. Would the dealer let you take any of the combo's home for a test drive? I would opt for the 1068/1075 because I prefer sound over volume, although my 1075 has plenty left in the bank.

If you were paying full price, I would say 1068/1075... because the 1075 down the road will be able to get you good resale whereas the 1066 is already 1 generation behind... however, since the 1066 is available at a great discount, I would say get the 1066/1095... and then when the replacement comes out for the 1068, you can always upgrade at that time... and you wouldn't have to upgrade your amp.

        New 1075/1066 Setup Question
        by semicane
Recently replaced my Yamaha 5.1 receiver with a 1075/1066 set up. My question is whether or not I can use my multi room speaker selector that use to run off my Yamaha A/B selector(B setting) off of the 1075 amp. The components sound awesome in my HT setup, but I had three sets of small speakers in...

        RSP-1066+RMB-1095, or RSP-1068+RMB-1075?
        by hired goon
        G'day,

I can get the following combinations for the same price:

        (a) RSP-1066 AV pre/pro + RMB-1095 5x200 amp; or
        (b) RSP-1068 AV pre/pro + RMB-1075 5x130w amp

The ideal combination would be the RSP-1068 + RSP-1095, but that's beyond my budget for...

        1075 or 1095 amplifier?
        by shuang1234
I auditioned a 1066/1095 setup yesterday and really liked it. The total cost is a bit above my budget. I could reasonably afford a 1066/1075 combination though.

        How much of a difference would I notice between the 1075 (120 W) and 1095 (200 W) amplifiers? I listen to 2-channel music (analog...

        Got my 1095 today
        by hired goon
        G'day,

Finally traded in my RMB-1075 for an RMB-1095. Matched with an RSP-1068 pre/pro and an RCD-1072 CD player.

I was alternating between the 1095, or keeping the 1075 and adding an RB-1080. I chose the 1095 because (a) it's better to have too much power than not enough...
