1066 no longer working, DAMN!

I am at a loss here. My week old 1066 is no longer working. It has blue LED, but that's it. It's acting like it's asleep. I never use the Rotel remote, & it's in it's box. I use my Panamax 5300 to power down the 1075 & 1066 in sequence. The 1066 was working perfectly last night, & this morning, NADA. I upgraded to the latesr firmware before I even used it. The upgrade went great. I am at an utter loss as what to do. It won't respond to any remote commands, has no display, & does nothing other than stare at me with a blue LED. HELP!

Return it to your dealer and get a new one ASAP.

I'd go ahead and reinstall the lastest software again, this will wipe out any memor or "bugs" that may be present. If it still does not respond after that, than yes, do contact your dealer about a repair/replacement!

I've heard this problem before.

First, I'm assuming that the switches in the back were flipped back after the firmware upgrade and that the audio button (it was the top left button on the older remote) was pressed prior to pushing the power button.

Secondly, efarstad might have a good suggestion with the reinstall of the upgrade.

I'd also try unplugging the unit from an electrical source and then unplugging everything from the 1066 pre-pro itself. Then, after let's say 10 minutes (completely arbitrary and probably too long), reconnect the Rotel to the electrical outlet and try turning it on again. Try the unit's power button, then seeing if it is in sleep with the remote. If it works, then turn off the power, reconnect everything, and see if it powers up again.

I recall this working with one user, but, from memory, I think it only worked again for a while before the problem recurred and he ended up having to take it back.

kendrid may unfortunately be right. You may have to exchange the unit in the end.

Well, this is killing me! I have been enjoying it fo almost a week until this. The switches are as they should be. I tried the disconnect as well, NOPE. I will try & flash the firmware before it goes back.
AAAARRRGGGHH!

Really sorry Patrick. :cry: Well, I guess the only consulation is that once you get a new unit, if efarstad's solution doesn't work, at least the problems should be in the past for good at that point.

Well, it won't take any firmware either. After pressing 1 on the keyboard, nothing happens. It's going back.

Bummer. Well, at least your covered on warranty and even just a straight return because it doesn't work after one week. I do agree this sort of thing shouldn't happen that often though. It would be good if Rotel would address what's gonig on with this type thing.

Well, my dealer tried installing a board & it didn't work. Rotel overnighted a new 1066, & I'll have it on Tuesday. I wonder if I'm going to need another firmware upate? HAIL ROTEL!
