    Got my 1095 today

    G'day,

Finally traded in my RMB-1075 for an RMB-1095. Matched with an RSP-1068 pre/pro and an RCD-1072 CD player.

I was alternating between the 1095, or keeping the 1075 and adding an RB-1080. I chose the 1095 because (a) it's better to have too much power than not enough and (b) I can always get a 1080 later to drive the fronts, and (c) if I do add a 1080 to the 1095, then the fronts and centre will be driven by the same wattage, which wouldn't be the case for the 1075 + 1080.

Anyway, I haven't had time to test the 1095 out fully yet, vs the 1075. Nothing jaw-dropping so far. Bass doesn't seem as pronounced, though that may be because the 1075 was a bit bloomy. Will need to do more tests later.

I did get the infamous buzz through my speakers. Guess I'll have to start removing components to see if it's just the ground loop, or some other interference.

I picked up a flyer at the store on my way out, but didn't get to look at it until I'd set up the RMB-1095 at home. The store is having a stock clearance, and one of the items listed (though now crossed out) was a black demo RMB-1095 for one-third of the price I paid for my new silver RMB-1095. Grrrrrr. I could have got that new RB-1080 (and more!) with the price difference.

How audible is the buzz? Can you hear it from your listening position or do you have to be right up to the speaker?

I've noticed a bit of a buzz from my tweeter when my 1080 is on but only when my ear is right up beside it. I can't hear a thing if I'm even a foot away.

I recently went from a very quiet Rmb 1075 to the Rmb 1095.With all the talk of hums and buzz issues I was a little nervous. After plugging it into the same outlet where the 1075 had lived...I listened.Over the next few days there developed quite the SSSsszzz. It was of course thru all the speakers and you could hear it from the sitting position. The outlet where it was plugged is on the other side of a dividing wall.On that same side is another outlet which goes directly to the box with nothing in its path. With the use of a heavy duty exstension cord I plugged the 1095 there.
This took a great deal of it away...I was down to Ssszzz.Sill not happy,I then put it into my Monster 3500 power center...this took it down to acceptable range where you must put your ear to speakers to hear it.The 3500 is plugged into the dedicated line with the help of a Monster x-cord.So far I'm very happy with the outcome and plan to upgrade to 5100 or 7000 power center.

The buzz can be heard about 12 inches away from the amplifier itself, and from the speakers. It can vaguely be heard if you aware of it.

I've noticed a bit of a buzz from my tweeter when my 1080 is on but only when my ear is right up beside it.
Bummer. I was thinking that if the 1095 buzz continues (or gets worse), then I'd trade it in for 3 x 1080, but if the 1080 also has the same problem, then ... well, maybe another kind of amp altogether.

i too hear a little buzz on the tweeter and i can't hear a thing from a feet. So i don't bother .However, i've recently added DSS to my HT and a loud buzz comes from speaker. I guess this is a ground loop problem. So I plan to order Dayton Video Isolation Transformer (part # 180-075) from partsexpress and i hope i will eliminate or at least reduces 60Hz hum.
If it does not work, then think i will need somthing like Monster power conditioner or brickwall.

I would verify that that video isolater will work with DSS systems. Sat's have voltage going through the cable and also work on an entirely different frequency than normal cable.

Most likely if it's a problem, the DSS just won't get a signal, but I would hate for it to damage something.

                Two things to try:

                1. Replace coax cable from dvd to receiver and cable/sat box to receiver with opticals if possible.

                2. Run tv coax from cable/sat box to a power conditioner then then back to the tv. This should take the hum down to rear at tweeter levels. This is just the sound of the transformer.

I also would try a cheated plug adapter, with the ground pin disconnected. In my case this completely eliminate the buzz from 1095 ... but, remmeber, this way you completely lose ground connection.

I had the infamous buzz from my 1095 (but not the 1090) and I was able to narrow the cause down to my incoming sat cable. This caused me to get a pair of panamax 5100's to plug everything into. I ran the sat cable into the same Panamax that the 1095 was connected to. This reduced the buzz to acceptable levels - you had to get 18" from the speakers to hear it.

The real buzzkill (sorry) is xlr cables. I connected my AVM-20 to the amps using balanced cables and now there is absolutely no buzz. No matter how close you get to the speaker. Just pure unadulterated silence.

I know that a lot of folks don't have the xlr option, but if you do, it is the way to fly!

                      RMB-1095 Buzz
                      by mitch57
                      Hi all,

My 1095 seems to be buzzing more and more these days. I have verified that it's nothing to do with grounding. The buzzing is coming from the amplifier itself. I disconnected all interconnects except the speakers.

                      Here's what happens:

                      1. The amp...

Okay, I'm looking for a little bit of help here...

I have both the 1095 and 1080 and am trying to figure out which one I want to push my mains (B&W DM604 S3s). Right now I have the RMB-1095 since I haven't gotten my 1080 back off my friend (he's using it for right now until his amp...

                      1 x RMB-1095 vs 3 x RB-1080?
                      by hired goon
                      G'day,

I've currently got an RMB-1095 5x200w amp, about 2 weeks old. For a few hundred dollars, I can trade this in to get 3 x RB-1080 2x200w amps.

I'm wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of such a move.

This is what I've come up with:
