    Rotel popping conclusion

I have been steadily reading and trying to follow all the various messages regarding the popping sound with various Rotel products.

Can anyone comment if this problem has been successfully corrected yet, or is the solution still in progress?

Also, just to clarify, does this popping sound only occur when switching between inputs, or does it also occur, for example, when watching a movie on DVD and suddenly in the middle of the movie a popping sound will occur?

    Thanks for any input.

    Hi Glenn,

No, the problem has not been resolved, nor is there an across-the-board consistency as to when it occurs. Some report the popping intermittently no matter what they're doing. Others report that the problem only when say switching between functions.

It appears to be sporadic and not affecting the performance of most units. I don't think it can be traced by things such as serial number or firmware edition, but am not sure in this regard.

Personally, I wouldn't let it stop me from getting a Rotel. I'd just make sure there was a good return policy if I had a problem.

You probably already read this, but here's the most recent discusion on the matter.

Agreed. My first unit had the problem..exchanged it for a new one and everything is just fine and dandy now. Rotel sound for the money..can't be beat. I have the 1075/1066 seperates and couldn't be happier. Drive em hard..they love it!

          Rotel 1066 popping
          by hectic1
I bought a 1066 a couple of weeks ago and noticed today that I have a popping coming from all of my speakers about every 3 seconds. I turned to volume all the way off and the popping is still there. I put my hand on the edge of the woofer on my SVS and you can feel the speaker move when popping! I purchased...

When I use the receiver subwoofer preouts to my amp I can awful popping each time the PS3 to the receiver loses HDMI signal. For example, as the BD starts playing through the federal law information and the production studio images the popping will occur each time a new image appears. I would say...

          Rotel RSP-1066 Bass Management Report
          by Dre J
          Hello,

I finally registered since I had something useful to add. More to come.

I've spent a good deal of time characterizing the Rotel RSP-1066's bass management under all input conditions. Below is the link to my web page with Rotel's Bass management report and workarounds...

          rotel 1067?
          by Lancer
I have just upgraded from an old rotel unit to the 1067. The amps are only running my center and rear diapold speakers. My 604 fronts are being run by two 990 bx amps. I have a rotel dvd and cd player. There is a popping noise in my center and rear speakers when I am in dolby digital or dts. All three...

Well we all knew it had to come down to a decision point sooner or later. And here I sit trying to decide which amp goes up on Audiogon. Here is my analysis in my room with my speakers and my processor and my cd player. Understand that you may have different results with your system.
