    1068 pop / crack - requires reboot.

Interesting not sure if related but wierd occcurance lately...

Playing movie and suddenly there is a pretty loud "pop" / "crack" and the unit loses all sound. Have video going direct to projector so cannot verify if the video is also afffected.

    Perhaps the 12v triggers to the amps? (1075 & 1092 & Velodyne DD12)

Have to hard boot the unit (switch off the unit at the rear) and then she is fine again. Done it twice now in two movies off a PS3 source, via toslink audio connection.

Think I have latest firmware...searched the wesite for the latest version but cannot find it anymore?

    Any thots?

This is news to me. I had the RSX-1057 and never had pops. It is supposed to be nearly identical to the 1068. I never did update the software because it was flawless. Now my friend owns it and has no issues. Check your wiring.

Yep ill check all cables ... it may be the 12v triggers losing contact when the sub gets going ... :B

I updated sw to 1.31 (from 1.28 ) last night anyway and see how she goes now.

        Thanks!

I'll try flipping the switch off b4 I leave for work then turn it on when I get home. I doubt it will work as any time a storm comes in I unplug everything.

          thnx 4 the tip

            Please get me Rotel's ph#

the hard reboot didn't work for my Rotel 1068. I NEED to fix this problem quickly.

I pulled the grill on affected* speaker to watch the drivers during a pop. I freaked when I saw the mid and woofers get sucked into the cabinet. this pop is very hard on my speaker.

Mine does not pop on chaging inputs etc - but seems get get a static pop mid way through a movie when all amps go dead and seems the preamp either loses its 12v trigger out or something goes very wrong - reboot fixes it though - might be an over heat condition not sure.

Try downloading and reinstalling latest firmware ...

how do I download & install latest firmware? what connectors (e.g. USB) do I need?

Any cautions? I've read posts fropm people who've had to send their SSP to Rotel to un-screw.

                thnx tony

                  1068 popping

I want to make the popping go away so I can use ANY amp. Any time I change SS modes or FF/back up video (DVD) one front channel pops*!
                  * mid & bass drivers being sucked way into into the cabinet

Through the swapping of channels* I determined the popping is some peculiar interaction between the my RSP 1068 and my Belles Series One amp left channel. Haven't tried another Belles yet.
                  * and a different make power amp

You read that right. That same amp channel connected to either the left OR right (1068) front channel will produce the popping in the speaker connected to same. I confirmed this by running a Hafler XL 280 pop free!

thnx 4 readg this far. tony
