DTR 7.1 What is that little port for?

    You know the RS 232
"That is to be used in conjunction with an external controler to control the operation of the DTR 7.1 by using an external device"

    Sooo.... it plugs into a thing-a-me-bob so I can.........what?

    Thanks for any help

If you were to set up a home / home theater control system like the touch panel ones by Creston, Creston product info, the RS-232 port would allow that system, when properly programmed, to control the operations of the DTR-7.1. It is unlikely that you'd actually use a Creston with a DTR-7.1 unless you wer e automating a lot of other functions in your house, since the Creston would cost several times more than the unit it would be controlling. But it is an example of how the RS-232 port could be used, and there are other less expensive control systems that could potentially make use of the port.
