    Composite and Component Outs

When the RDC-7 outputs a video signal, I assume it has to be the same cable type that is coming in.

For example, I can't have a VCR coming into VIDEO 1 through a composite input, and output it to my display through the Video 1 component outputs...I must use Video 1's composite out...correct?

    Thanks, folks

Bascially that is true. Component in -> Component out; composite in -> composite out. However, according to page 16 of the "Instruction Manual":
S-video sources can be viewed via the S-video or composite outputs, while composite sources can only be viewed through the composite output
The RDC-7 does NOT "upconvert" composite to either S-Video or component nor does it convert S-Video to component.

      Composite and S-Video WHY???
      by ktaillon
Why do the manufactures still bother putting all those unused composite and S-video connectors on the back of the receivers and preamps? I can't remember when I had to use anything less than component.

My current setup only uses digital video: cable box, dvd player and PC.

Rotel 1066 component video setup problem
      by mattstacey
      Hi guys,

I just replaced my Denon 3802 with a Rotel 1066 yesterday, hooked up to a Rotel 1075 amp. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it yet but so far it sounds awesome.

I have a problem with my video connections though. I had no problems with the Denon 3802 so...

1068 Converion of S-Video & Composite to Component
      by Stevebez
Howdy ... I have not used S-Video, but recently when studying my SAT receivers manual, I noted it outputs S-Video.

What is generally better a signal / picture composite or S-Video. Also which is easier to convert to component signal ??

newbie question - new receiver or video switcher?
      by zgeist
First, I'm new to this HT thing - I *have* read lots of posts, but I'm still confused - so I thought I just ask. Second, I'm posting this in Club Rotel because one of the options I'm considering is the RSX-1055...

Basically, I'm getting a plasma tv and I'm trying to figure out how best...
