Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on HK DPR2005 as a pre/pro?

I'm going to audition this unit today, and I'm thinking of of using it purely as a digital/surround decoder/processor to feed separate power amps.

I know it's a bit silly to buy a digital amplifier and then never use it, but I like the slim form factor. I've been looking at high end pre/pros, but none of them support as many digital formats as this mid priced receiver.

Does anyone else use it as a processor and how does it sound? I'm just wondering about the quality of the op amp and analog pre amp stage.

PS - I am intending to only feed it digital signals - analog signals will get routed to a separate analog preamp.

Hi Christine, Welcome....

Before I decided to stay with 2 channel the 1001 & 2005 looked pretty good to me as a reciever. The Digital is interesting and the unit looks very nice.

Someone may be by shortly to give you a more specific answer to you question.

I use 1005 as a pre amp with my proceed avp2 for play with newer surround sound format.
