    Halo DVD?

Is such a thing in the works? Does anyone have any information on capabilities and interfaces (DVD-A, SACD, DACs, HDMI, XLR, etc)? I read somewhere that they had a new DVD player ready to roll but held it up because they wanted to improve it.

I'm building a whole new audio/video system from scratch and would like to get a sexy (and capable) DVD player to match my new Halo C2 and A51. If a Halo unit doesn't come out I will probably fall back on the Pioneer Elite DV59-Avi for its HDMI outputs and its decent sound quality.

Thanks for any info (or corrections) you can provide.

Hi, ralniv, and welcome to Club Parasound and the Guide!

You'll want to start by reading the Club Parasound FAQ at the top of the list of discussion topics. To summarize the DVD player news, two models were developed and even previewed two years ago by Parasound. However, due to the changing market in DVD technology, Parasound delayed and shelved the players. There are VERY strong rumors that they will release 1-3 brand new players sometime this year, but nobody knows what or when. I thought they would be announced at CES several months ago. They will VERY likely be high-end players, universal with many extra features.

Talked to Parasound today and was informed that there is a Parasound classic (black faced) model and a Halo model in the works. They are trying for a release sometime in the Fall or Winter of 2004.

 (sigh) Here we go again. I'm still holding out hope that Parasound will do DVD players and release them. I think we all got our hopes up prior to CES in January that one or more models would be released. Well, I still wouldn't be surprised if it happens, sooner or later. I just hope it lives up to the Parasound reputation of performance and comes in at a good price!

            I wonder if they'll offer a Blu-Ray unit?

<edit>Apparently what I had initially typed here was based on old information from the Consumer Electronics Show in 2002. In any event, the picture below may still reflect what the exterior of a Halo DVD player might look like. A DVD player that beefy must be excellent, right? </edit>

I am definitely one of those in the camp that is waiting, holding my breath to see if Parasound releases a Halo DVD player. I think this would be awesome. Supposedly it will happen, but the clock just keeps ticking. I still hope, though.

The rumor I heard was that they were holding out for Blue-Ray development.

Well, lookie here: I think we just found the first "official" information on Parasound DVD players. It looks like the rumors were true after all!

First, the printed info: The December 2003 issue of DVD Etc has a "DVD Player Buyer's Guide" in the back, that seems to...

I came across some new information about Parasound stuff soon. You all can probably understand that I can't always divulge my sources, but I keep my ears open for reliable information that I can share with our club.

Still no review to be had but I think we can put this topic to bed. I've been reading a lot about the new Blu Ray and HD DVD players, but I haven't seen a peep about Parasound's DVD or any other standard dvd players, for that matter. This dearth of media exposure surely spells the end of these types...

                    Ranking Cd / DVD players
                    by Blue-Eyes
How is the ranking of the Classe CD/DVD players, analog and digital?
                    And is for example, a CDP300 better on analog on a SSP600 then a CDP502 digital on a SSP600.
Dufficult question, but I wonder what your impressions are.

Reason? I'm thinking about the future, what to do...........

What are everyone's thoughts on these new universal DVD-A, DVD-V and SACD players? At the moment I have the Denon 1600 which is one of the best DVD players available and it also does DVD-A. I'm also using it as a CD player since I find its DAC's slightly better then those in my Rotel pre amp but I know...
