    JC 7 and BD 1

    OK, what about this?

JC 7 would be a serious preamp built on the JC 2 platform but placed into the C1/JC1 size chassis. It would have two sets of 7.1 audio inputs, one set of 7.1 audio outputs and maybe a few 2 channel inputs. No digital decoding as that would take place at the source.

The BD 1 would be a serious Blueray player (also built with the C1/JC1 chassis size) with 7.1 analog out, various video outputs, various digital outputs and inputs as the audio DAC inside will be killer, killer, killer.
Plug all of you highend sources into the BD 1 and output to the JC 7.

Just a thought for the true high end guys... HDMI is great but not sure if it will always sound better than better quality analog gear/cables? You can always upgrade digital source and keep the investment you made in the "preamp"...

JC-7 would be nice, but would definitely be a "niche" unit. Now, a BD-1 on the other hand, would freaking ROCK. The industry could use a high-end BD player, especially a Halo model with balanced outputs, BNC, HDMI 1.3, etc. Would be awesome if it had the full gamut of capability playing discs, truly universal.

I'm all for pursuing high-end digital instead of hanging on to multichannel analog.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.
