Finally setting up - problems with remote

I have finally started setting everything up but am having problems with the remote for the C2.
I purchased the C2 from a fellow member, managed to not screw things up with the update, and so far managed to hook everything up correctly.
Front panel works flawlessly. (Unit is fabulous so far!)
Remote shows previous owners programmed information and the C2 does not respond to even basic commands (power, etc.).
How do I update the remote (There was an update with the C1/2 updates, correct?) If I have done the C2 update, do I just hook the remote to the C2 with the supplied cable? Do I need to do some sort of hard-reset on the remote first?

Other than this, hopefully I should have some preliminary photos to post soon.

And, to the poster who asked if there were any other Krell people around... Hey!

Sounds like you need to re-program the remote to work your equipment. I would think it should work on the C2 if he was using it, but who knows. Updating the C2 shouldn't have messed up the remote working.
The remote isn't programmed or hooked up to the C2, it's hooks to a computer with the supplied cable (should be serial on one end, phono on the other) and you then use the MX-editor software to program it.
You can download the programming manual for the remote from Universal Remote's website, or ask questions here.

      Brian - Thanks. That's a huge start.

OK - MxEditor on computer, trying to get IR codes for the Panasonic PT-AE700U and for my Toshiba SD-5980.
Parasound states specifically on their site to only use the version of MX-Editor that is available from them - how do you do updates to get the newer equipment IR codes?

Well, I quit using Parasounds version a while ago because I was using an MX-850 instead of the Parasound supplied remote.
I don't know why you couldn't use Universal Remote's version instead of Parasounds. Just be sure to swap the power buttons as the Parasound remote is reversed from the Universal versions.
If the codes aren't in the database, you can always teach them with the original remote. It only takes a couple minutes with the software.

Hey, rkburton, I agree, that's odd that the remote doesn't work at ALL with the C2. Like Brian said, you need to download the Parasound MXEditor program from Parasound's website. When you run it, you'll find from the menu or the top right icon the "Live Update" function. When you run Live Update, it will connect to Universal Remote's web database and download all latest available IR codes, along with any program updates. (side note, I've had problems with Live Update on the latest version of Parasound's MXEditor, let me know if you have any)

Once you have MXEditor running, install the appropriate codes, including the C2. Just FYI, I also have the Panny AE700, and couldn't find any IR database codes for this unit. No big deal, though, that's another strength of the MX-700. I used the learning function to just learn the AE700 commands. There's only a few buttons to learn, and it went very quick.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Problems with MXEditor Live Update after DPLIIx software update
            by Chris D
Weird. I downloaded the DPLIIx update to two different computers I own, including the new MXEditor software version. Got through the update okay, following the instructions for both Halo Control and MXEditor. So far so good. I ran the MXEditor program Live Update, which downloaded a rather large...

Displaying Input Selection on Remote LED
            by Tom Caines
I have a RXS-1056 with it's oem RR-1050 remote. I have programmed my inputs and the 1056's LED displays my selections: DVD, DIRECTV, SAT, IPOD, PHONO.

On the remote, selecting V1 displays DVD on the remote's LED, which is correct, but I have no idea how this came to be.
            However,...

We'll see if anybody gets any use out of this. I've attached several files in zip format for our club members here. Just click on the attached files at the end of the post if you'd like any of them. I figured that there might be someone that could find a file or two useful, perhaps to either set...

Is Live Update working properly in your MX Editor software?
            by Chris D
Over the last year or so, I've noticed discrepancies in Parasound's MX Editor software program to customize the MX-700 and Sidekick remotes included with the Halo C1 and C2 processors.
