Well, I am just about to buy my second HCA-1500a. I have about $1k set aside for one of my room's amps, and I can't see going to the Halo A23, as it would be a step down. Perhaps to some, not visualy, but sonically, I can't imagine the A23 besting the 1500a, especially with Martin Logan Aerius i's.
Forgetting looks, the 1500a either has the same spec's, or smokes the A23, and is less money. About 50% more current, 40% more output devices, 50% more capictor storage, 40% more weight. . . If your eyes were shut, and all you had were your ears, which do you think a group of audiophilles would consistenly chose in a blind comparison?
In fact, in comparing many of the spec's of the Halo series with the old Classic series, is seems incredicble that in many areas they are exactly the same, or the Classic has better.
For $1K or less, am I just being prejudiced to my current Classic gear - HCA-2200II, HCA-1500a, two HCA-1000a's - or is the greatest sounding and priced equipment still the Parasound Classic (old) series??
