Buying new HCA-1500a. Halo internals-no bling

Well, I am just about to buy my second HCA-1500a. I have about $1k set aside for one of my room's amps, and I can't see going to the Halo A23, as it would be a step down. Perhaps to some, not visualy, but sonically, I can't imagine the A23 besting the 1500a, especially with Martin Logan Aerius i's.

Forgetting looks, the 1500a either has the same spec's, or smokes the A23, and is less money. About 50% more current, 40% more output devices, 50% more capictor storage, 40% more weight. . . If your eyes were shut, and all you had were your ears, which do you think a group of audiophilles would consistenly chose in a blind comparison?

In fact, in comparing many of the spec's of the Halo series with the old Classic series, is seems incredicble that in many areas they are exactly the same, or the Classic has better.

For $1K or less, am I just being prejudiced to my current Classic gear - HCA-2200II, HCA-1500a, two HCA-1000a's - or is the greatest sounding and priced equipment still the Parasound Classic (old) series??

umm, without looking at Parasounds site, why are you comparing the current and everything else from the 1500 to the A23?

    the A23 is 125 x 2 is it not? and isnt the 1500 like 205 or 210 x 2?

I dont see how they can be compared.

Either you want more wattage and current for speakers that need to be driven harder, or you don't. I have a feeling saving $$ is the biggest of your issues, and thats fine. It is afterall your $$, lol.

The A23, for being 125 x2 is outputting 45 amperes per channel, thats pretty damn good. Thats 15 more than the A52 Im selling, and that amp is astonishingly awesome for its ratings.

Interesting...I just saw that the 1500a is still available, and for only $799 brand new from AudioAdvisor. That seems like an amazing deal, consisering that it provides 205 wpc.

schafari, you've had a good experience with this amp?

        Yes, 1500a is amazing

I have had many amps, and the 1500a blew me away. Ironically, I thought that if the 1500 sounds good, well then the 2200II must be stellar. Frankly, I sold the 2200II and went back to the 1500. The 1500 was much more liquid. I highly reccomend this amp. In addtion, I highly recommend Audio Advisor. They are top notch in all my purchases with them.

          A23 or HCA1500A or RB1080?
          by VictorHRS
Hi there Halo and Parasound Club members! This is just my second thread in this forum. I have appreciated it for a long time, but just as an observer. As you can see, I live in Brasil, which is not a good place to live if you like high quality audio. Everything is very expensive due to import taxes,...

          Parasound P3/A23 with Subwoofer?
          by Audiognostic
I'm building a 2.1 system from scratch and recently picked up an A23 Demo. I was looking to add a matched P3, when I realized it has no bass management. Does anyone on this forum have experience using this combo with a subwoofer? How did you set it up, and how did you like the results? From what...

Biwiring Parasound C2 to Parasound A23
          by MichiganMike
Someone posted on Audiogon.com that they experienced improved sound when connecting both balanced and unbalanced cables to input a Parasound A21 amp. I have a Parasound C2 preamp processor normally connected to a Parasound A23 amp using balanced cables in a 2 channel system. Since I had a spare set...

I currently Have a Parasound A23 am bi-amping it for my Center Channel. My Center Channel is a Krix Epicentix that is a 4ohm Speaker. I understand you can only bridge the A23 with 8ohm speakers.

So I did a experiment with the A23 I Bridged it on my 4ohm speaker to try for a hour and...
