What are you using for a Phono Preamp ???

I just ordered a VPI Scout turntable which will be here next week.

I have the Parasound PPH-100 Phono Preamp but am being told that it is an entry-level unit and will be the “weak-link” in my system, and that a higher-end preamp is a "must" if I want to get full benefit from my VPI Scout -- do you agree or disagree with this ???

I will be using the PPH-100 initially (and maybe I will love it !?!?) -- but if it truly is a “weak-link” in my system, I would prefer to get something more comparable to the rest of my system -- so I’m wondering what Phono Preamp all of you are using ???

This is an excellent unit from Musical Fidelity that I've personally used:

Oh dear, something has gone wrong. Here's a couple of things to try next to get back to the good stuff... Use your browser's 'Back' button and...

It's the X-LPS v3 and I feel for the money it can't be beat. It definitely outperforms the PPH-100 and it doesn't break the bank either.

Interesting...it "destroys" the Creek, they say. It must be really something, as the Creek was/is generally considered to be an outstanding phono stage for the price.

Howdy: Well, after all these years, decided it was time to drag out the old phono and listen to some fine old vinyl. Got my Dual 601 serviced and cleaned, new belt and excited about my new adventure. Guess I overlooked the fact the RSP-1066 does not have a phono input/preamp...oops. Does anyone...

        Phono stage? What's that??
        by nicholtl
Hey all, so I've been doing some research and getting interested in adding a turntable to my system. Lately, I've been looking at the VPI Scout with JMW 9 arm, which is usually sold as a package on several online sites like audioclassics or acousticsounds. Some of you guys might know of it from a...

        Phono stage upgrade

I have the following system : VPI Scout turntable with Ben Micro Ace (high output) cartridge, MF A1008 amplifier and ProAc Response D25 speakers. I am using the built-in phono stage. Often in the audio press there are disparaging views on phono stages that come as part of the amplifier and the general...

        Phono pre-amp
        by PMP2
        Hi folks,

I'm looking for a good phono-preamp to connect my DUAL CS5000 fitted with the Ortofon OMB20 MM cartridge to my Musical Fidelity M6i integrated amplifier.

I read a lot about different pre-amps in the 300-400€ price range but it's very difficult to decide if you...
