1nt vs N805

Potentially upgrading from 1nt to 805's, is this really an upgrade? Can anyone comment or provide recommedation on this proposed upgrade.

I will be matching it with an HTM2 for HT use, this is the only major reason for the 805 upgrade to have the 3 front channels match.

Will I notice better clarity, soundstage, and have more breath than the 1nt's?

IMO, the Nautilus 805 will be a significant upgrade from the CDM-1 NT for the following reasons:

1. 805 cabinet damps resonances/vibrations better than NT. This should result in less muddy sound.

2. 805 tweeter makes FULL use of tapered tube backloading, vs the NT's partial use of same. Better control of tweeter, more accurate movement with electrical signal.

3. 805 tweeter is more free-standing than NT tweeter. Should result in more open, airy sound.

4. Most sources say best HT sound is with identical-sounding speakers all around. 805s are therefore better fit with HTM2.

5. SACD specs state SACD is mixed assuming five IDENTICAL speakers. The 805s will get you closer to that.

6. 805s are B&Ws current top "full" line. NTs are one step down. US prices are $2000/pr for 805s, and were $1100/pr for CDM 1NTs. Within the B&W product lines, 805s are a significant step up.

7. 805s are visually stunning IMO, while the CDM 1 NTs look a little awkward. Much better visual "WOW" factor with the 805s, if that is important to you.
