I currently have 7nt's for fronts and 1 nt's for rears. I have an opportunity to purchase either a pair of used 7nt's or 9nt's. I could then use the 1nt's in my second zone. My existing stereo-ht room is too small for 7.1, but I would then be ready for 7.1 in the future. The 7's have a nice laid back kind of sound and the 9's appear to be a little bit more up front in sound quality. Are the 9's worth the extra money (especially in a small room)?? If I saved a little more money instead of purchasing the 9's I could almost afford to trade my 7's and buy 804's. Upgradeitis strikes again. Any thoughts?

I have a pair of 9NT's, I liked them way better than the 7NT's, but that's me. If you got the money get the 803's.

Hi Stan,
I have owned and enjoyed the 7NT/1NT setup you have for quite sometime now. I did at one stage own the 9NT's as well. The 9NT's certainly have a lot more "beef" than the 7NT's, I eventually went with the 7's because the 9's were a little too overpowering in the small room my HT was in at the time. Musically I find the 7NT's to be more nimble than the 9NT but musical taste also plays a part in this. The 9's were fantastic with big rock albums where the 7's were great with smaller ensemble type music. You mentioned that you have a small room, either the 9NT's or the 804's might be a little too muscular for your room. If you can you should home audition them to be sure. I have only ever listened to the 804's in dealer rooms and I personally did not find them to be significantly different to the 9's, of course dealer rooms are not always the best place to make snap judgments about a speakers abilities.

I decided to pass on the CDM9NT's and stay with my present speaker setup until I am ready to upgrade again to the Nautilus 803's or their successors. However, I did add an Aragon St80008 @200x2 to run my existing CDM7's and to be ready amplification-wise for a future speaker upgrade and the difference in sound is pretty amazing. The 7's now react so much faster to musical changes, the bass is much better defined and the dynamic range of the speakers is much broader.
Just thought I would pass this along. Obviously any front speaker can benefit from a stand-alone 2 channel amp v. a 5 channel amp.Stan- Bottom

by BW4meI just got a pair of CDM 7NTs as well as the matching center. I also currently use an Integra DTR 5.5 AV receiver just purchased 7 months ago. Now that I have the b&w's I'm wondering if I should upgrade the power source. I'm not at the point where I can do seperates yet, but I thought maybe there...-

by nick.hHi,
Is it worth buying a CDM 9NT & CDM 1NT combo? Are they a good model to go for?
What are they compared to now in the B&W range?
Cheers-

I have a pair of CDM 7NT's, which I opted to purchase instead of the new 704's or 703's because: (i) I thought that the midrange sounded superior to the new 700's and (ii) because the...-
