    Asw610xp

Hello fellow audiophiles! Is there much real world difference between the 610XP and the 610?

I can't speak from experience, but I would imagine that the xp has more headroom but there won't be a lot of difference otherwise I don't think

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably push the sub pretty hard, so you think I should go for the XP for more headroom?

It wouldn't hurt but might be worth looking at what else you can get for the same money

Will do. But I'm kind of OCD and it might bug me to have a different brand than my speakers. You might have noticed that all my gear is Rotel, and all my cables are from the same line of Tara Labs, hahaha.

I've recently completed my first dedicated two channel audio room. I have acoustic treatment, but I don't have bass traps. Would you buy the sub or bass traps first? Maybe I'd be satisfied with the amount of bass from the 683's if I had bass traps?

your room has turned out great.
at this point i might sugest you invest in some measurement equipment to insure your room treatments are being optimized.

I used 683S1s without as sub as I didn't know any better. Now I have 802s with two subs. Basically if you get a good sub, you just don't know what you are missing thinking floorstanders are capable of replacing the sub.

So I'm looking at the svs sb-1000. It's only 300 watts. Is that something I should be concerned about?

The size of a sub is also an important factor as a larger one doesn't have to work as hard (as I understand it), and whether it is ported or not too.

Good points. I read some info on the svs website. Based on my needs and room, a sealed sub is the way they're saying to go. Small room and only used for music, no movies.
