    804di vs 803d

hey guys,im hoping to move up to the 800 series by the end of the year so i thought now would be a good time to get some advice.
i have a limited budget and i will only be able to budget for a set of 804di's if i were to buy new but im worried about there size because my room is very large.25x13 with an open floor plan,1800sgft total.
i can get the 804di's for 7100.00 out the door but ive seen the 803d's for about 6500 on audiogon.
so the question would be has anyone owned or compared these two head to head.
would i be better off with the new 804di or would the 803d be a better speaker.is the only difference the the tweeter or are there other improvements to the new series.

the new series have new xover and for me this gave it better midrange(IMHO) so I was thinking that the new series will be better that the old, BTW I have my old 804S in my living room that is close of your size and they fit the room with good sound. if you have the money rigth now I see a two month old in glossblack finish in audiogon for 4600

Yes I have, with exact same room and equipment...

I think with your room size the 803D would be the better choice. I wrote a thread below (2 years ago) about what I found when I compared the two. Both have their pros and cons, but I think with your room (unless you get subs), having the bigger speaker will provide you with better fuller sound. If you had a smaller room, my suggestion would no doubt be reversed.

Not sure if anyone has noticed. The B&W website was updated sometime this week. I can't say I like the new layout. If I did not know the 600 series existed I might not have found it. Also the CM7 is no longer shown as a current speaker. The CM8 is now in its place. We all knew this was coming, but the transition was

I have a 29 ft x 15 ft room with a 10 ft stud and I can confirm that 803Ds perform well in a room of this size. Their physical presence is impressive.

or spend a little more on 802D which is definately better than 804 Diamond.

Well i think that the 804Di will be better in performance under his budget but obviously the 803 will full the room with good sound but I preffer the new series because I think that they have better performance. Just my five cents

thanks for your input guys,i will check out the comparison thread,i saw the add on audiogon but unfortunately i need them in rosenut.i also saw the 803d's there and that is what started this thread.i have the cm9's right now and they do a respectable job on the low end but i do have a pair of svs pb12 plus subs to handle any bass issues.the svs subs blend really well.in a perfect world i would go staight to the 802di or 803's but i would not be able to enjoy them as much living in the back of my truck.thats where my waf would put me if i spent that much money.ha ha

stuofsci02.i read your post on the 804di vs 803d and i think im gonna just have to get my dealer to let me take home the 804's.i wish i could also do that with the 803'si i also have been seeing a lot of 802d's for sale out there but i just cant justify that.

i have 804diamond and my parents has 802D. i can tell you for sure 802D beat the 804diamond in every aspect.
802D used is like $8000 or $9000ish. consider 804 is $7500, it's not too much more.

somehow the 803D sounds not as coherant as others. I think it's due to 3 woofer configulation. other than that, it's sounds more close to 802D than 804Diamond. the authority is clearly one step up from 804Diamond. U can consider it as 802D in a more traditional speaker form. Of course 802D sounds more relexing, but they are quite close.

hey antus, yea i have seen the 802's on audiogon ranging from 7900 up to around 9000.i would love a set of those but along with the added cost my waf does not approve of them.i like the style of the 803-4 better myself but i would definetly take the 802's.i can get the 4's for 7100 out the door but wood jump on a set of used ones to save the cash.so hopefully around christmas a set of rosenut 804's will pop up on the net..

I have been auditioning 804di and 803di's in a number of different dealers, with different rooms and electronics. My wife prefers the larger physical size of the 803's to better match the scale of the room and other items in the room but does not like to looks of the 802's. The system, which will...

                        Hi,

I got my local B&W dealer to set-up an extended, private comparison between the 803D and the 802Ds... Same amp. music and room... The system was based on McIntosh 602 amps (600W a channel) with the McIntosh pre and CD player. Incidentally I liked the amp but felt that the pre

I've got a rather small room right now, 3*4m, and I've got the following setup:

                        Sota Comet, RB301 and a Denon DL304
