FST kevlar color difference between series?

i was checking out some 800D and 802D speakers over the weekend. different setups... and what was strikingly strange to me was that the FST kevlar color was very different than what I'm used to from my 803D and HTM2D.

The difference was that the 803D and HTM2D have a brighter yellow and the ones I saw had a murky almost brownish yellow tint.

from my memory even the 600 series I've owned in the past had a brighter yellow fst.

Can anyone chime in with their experience and if there are actually different shades of yellow for the FST.

I wonder if early production was darker brownish yellow and newer production the brighter yellow... or ....

The 800 series FST's definitly go darker with age, and settle to a similar dark yellow after 1 or 2 years. I'm not sure if this isn't what you're noticing.

What I see in your great pic is what I'm used to - the same bright yellow I was expecting to see in my speakers. I can not see from this pic any difference in the fst of your 801d or it's new siblings.

        I should have taken pics

The 801D is the same yellow as the others.. It is also the same as my previous 804s and my CM7.

Not the best pictures but when I swapped the 802D and HTM2D to the new Diamond lines, I took these. They look identical to me (the older ones were just over 1 year old).

Unless I'm reading it wrong and you are saying the FST Kevlar is different from non-FST cones. Then sorry.

Thx for the input. All your pics look like my fst ... Bright yellow.

The ones I saw in 2 completely different setups was almost a Dijon mustard color , a darker yellow that just wouldn't sit right with me.

The fact that I saw them in 800D and 802D is what prompted my questioning.
Any of you that have let the speaker in sunlight have any input?

I wonder if the sun is the culprit

All kevlar speakers from B&W gets darker - especially if exposed to sun light.
I have in the past been forced to switch speakers from left to right as one of them was/is nearer a window.
In all honesty it happens so slowly that you only notice when comparing to a new unit, given that you do the swapping. Don't think there is any way to avoid it.
Would be interesting if the blue cones from the CT line does the same..

150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange: Do they all run on the same frequency?
                    by nick.h
                    Hi,

I have noticed the 804s/803s/803d/802d/801d/800d all use the 150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange driver. Are the crossover for this all set to be the same? Do they all run in the same range?

What about the 805s the 6.5" Kevlar, what frequency does it run at?...

                    Question about a Kevlar cone
                    by SQdude
A certain manufacture is famous for using yellow Kevlar cones with a totally flat surround housed in a sphere. I'm curious is the general break-up characteristic of Kevlar (what freq does this material fall apart at)? Also, with a flat surround, how much xmax do you really think they are getting out...

How long does the Kevlar cone take to change colour?
                    by WelshOne
The 803D and 805S I have on home demo right now are apparently 3/4 years old. The driver on the 803D is quite a goldish brown in most lighting conditions?

I will have to buy a new centre, and I am a touch concerned about a potential colour mismatch?

                    Is this something to...

                    Is Kevlar holding B&W back?
                    by bigburner
I was talking to an ex-B&W owner today. He believes that these days there are better materials than Kevlar with which to build mid-range drivers, e.g. carbon fibre and modern plastics, but B&W can’t use these materials because Kevlar is now so integral to their brand.
