    B&W PM1 me like

I bought a pair of the PM1's to try out and after having them a while I really like them!

Foot Print: First of all these speakers are really small and I love how I can stick them just about anywhere without them being the focal point of the room.

Looks: When I first saw pictures of them on the internet, I wasn't a big fan of the looks... but this is definitely a speaker you have to see in person. The over all finish is very glossy and almost looks like a gloss back from 10 feet away until you get up close to them. The quality of the finish seems to be very high quality but the lacquer or clear coat they use to seal the finish is very soft and can be scratched very easily so be careful. I really like the fact these speakers pass the wife acceptance factor and they blend in very well with our decor in the living room.

Sound Quality: The sound quality absolutely blew me away, granted I'm taking into consideration other speakers of this size and these speakers sound much bigger than they lead you to believe. The highs are very well balanced and smooth. I'm actually running these little guys in our living room and I have no reason to run a sub with them and the bass is very adequate and fills the room very nicely. I was really impressed with the bass output from such a small guy. I would say these remind me a lot of the old B&W 805S speakers with less bass output and just a tad smaller sound stage.

Value: If you are wanting a small footprint loud speaker that sounds almost as good as a 800 series you couldn't go wrong with a set of PM1's. These are smaller than a 805 and I would say they are a little bigger than a CM1 or 686 so its nice you can sit these things on a shelf or blend them in with your TV on the entertainment center. However, if space is not of concern a set of used 805S's or Signature 805's (my fav) would be a better choice and they can be had for much less than the $2800 entry price for these guys.

    Incredible speakers, dan!

    My congratulations!

A month ago, one of my friends heard it and said: "Ehi, boys, where did you hide the subwoofer?"

      Center for PM1
      by mangus
Hi all - I just listened to a pair of PM1s and ordered them right up. True, they were powered by a big McIntosh when I listened and won't sound nearly as good with my Denon 3212, but I think they should do fine in a Manhattan apartment.

I'm using M1s for rear (don't need much), a Velodyne...

      Compare 805s vs PM1
      by knot_m3
Has anyone try audition between 805s vs PM1 for the front channel of a home theater set?
Now, I already have htm4s for the center channel, Anthem MRX500 for the avr and Martin Logan Dynamo1000 for sub, and I'm deciding to buy a pair of new PM1 or used 805s for the front channels of my home theater...

PM1 good idea for 10x12 room
      by lastexit
What's your thoughts regarding the PM1 for a small 10x12 room? I'll have a sub and Rotel separates powering them. It's a bit over my budget but I think since its front-ported it will work better with the room and allow me to place them at the back wall. And, from what I understand, the PM1 is an entirely...
