Is living room home theater without a sub hurting my 804's?

    Hey guys,

Would very much appreciate your opinion on this. I recently decided to try running my home theater without a sub. I just can't find a suitable location for it in my living room and don't want want to bug my neighbors. I live in a town home with one common wall.

In my current set up I am running the 804 mains as "large" with the center HTM4 crossover at 80hz. It actually sounds pretty good.....and I don't exceed moderate volumes. I have a good, clean fairly powerful Anthem amp at 225 wpc at 8 ohms. I don't detect any distortion or clipping and actually prefer this set up for stereo music.

So, I just want to make sure I am not damaging my mains when watching 5.1 movies. Would appreciate your opinions on this.

    Thanks,

    John

should be fine..the sub bass is redirected to your mains when you set sub to none in your speaker setup. It just won't go as low as a sub but the bass management won't overload your main speakers.

Usually if you aren't using a sub, you would run all your speakers as "Large". I'm not familiar with the Outlaw, so check the manual to make sure that if you use a crossover on your center and surrounds that their bass is redirected to the mains.

Thanks......that's the way I have it set up, low bass from the center and surrounds are redirected to the mains. Sounds pretty good actually.

Yet another big sub gut-check (long)
            by DS-21
Apologies in advance for the wordiness, but I'm considering building/commissioning a new sub for my home system. After jumping from the explosions in "Munich" a friend made an unsolicited offer on my current sub - the first commercial sub I've owned since my early teens, a Tannoy B475 - that's...

Advice on Sub and Receiver to go with Lineup Series
            by Titan05
I’ve been looking around the site for a while now and think I finally decided on building the Lineup Series for my first home theater speaker build. I’ve done a lot of car audio projects, but never ventured into home theater but I’m pretty excited about giving it a shot. Currently I have a 55”...

            Good day gents!

I have been lurking for some time and sorting through the many impressive build threads on this site. I'm impressed with the quality of the information and general tone of the discussions.

This said, I am looking for some recommendations for an on-wall build...

            by Club1820
Hello everyone. Would appreciate some help. I recently purchased a M&K Sub VX-860SF 250 Watts used on Audiogon. The sub was originally purchased in Nov 05' so its pretty much new. I looks beautiful (Cherry Veneer) and does in fact look brand new. I hooked it up last night to my 1052 and was...

Hello all! We have recently made some changes to our upstairs living room. I have my dedicated HT room downstairs so this area is just really a place for my son to watch movies (3 years old) and us in addition to tv. We mounted the tv above the fireplace already and I purchased a small klipsch surround...
