I kept thinking one speaker was louder than the other.I had changed amp, cables, interconnects,cd players in search of my problem and then went to a hearing doctor who told me it was my hearing and wanted to sell me a hearing aid..So I sold all my B&W speakers and was resigned to just listening to my backup Legend Audio speakers as at this point nothing sounded good.
After going to a specialist I found out there is nothing wrong with my hearing. But I was still having the same problem with the legend speakers as I was with the B&W's.And at this point I had given up on solving my problem.
A few days ago I decided to shorten the mains speaker wires as they where to long. That is when I noticed something black inside the black coated wire..The red was fine.So I cut all the wires into sections and the black runs intermittently through out all the cable.I had bought 100 feet of this wire from my stereo shop long ago and before the economy closed them down so when I replaced the speaker wires long ago when trouble shooting my problem all I did was replace my problem with the same problem.See picture.
What can cause this .It is only in the black coated wire.It is **%$###r 12awg wire and I guess that's what I get for going that route.Replaced with some 12awg wire from ^%%$## and now the Legend speakers are sounding even and the problem is gone.I have been searching for the answer and never could figure it out.
I was so disappointed when I was told my hearing was bad and only to find out the doc was a crook. But on the other hand I can move froward and start thinking about my next Speaker purchase which will be B&W even though I always felt one speaker played lower than the other
Note:Left out cable names because of forum policy.
