    HTM61 & 683 vs. HTM62 and 685/686

Just done some critical listening, auditioned B&W and A/B comparisons at the local hifi/HT store.

Is it just me or does the HTM61 sound much, much better than the HTM62?

Also, the 683 sounds so much better than the 685/686 for stereo listening?

I was quite surprised by just how different they sound.
I'm very happy with the sound of the 683 at the moment.

Just asking for people to share their thoughts.

Can't comment on the HTM62, but if you liked the sound of the HTM61 please listen to the CMC2 or better..

Out of all the center channels I have owned the HTM61 was very dissappointing. I even found the CMC to be better.

When auditioning a center channel do not listen just from directly in front. Move 15 to 30 degrees off axis. This is where most centers fail miserably.
    Main System:
    B&W 801D
    Emotiva USP-1 Pre-Amp
    Chord SPM-650 Stereo Amp
    Oppo BDP-105
    Squeezebox Touch

    Second System:
    B&W CM7
    Emotiva UMC-1
    Emotiva UPA-2
    Oppo BDP-83SE
    Grant Fidelity DAC-09

I do like the sound of the HTM61, and feel it's a huge step above the HTM62.
I'll definitely have a listen to the CMC or CMC2.
I'll keep the off-axis listening in mind.

        Hi All

I am a newbie with speakers. I am planing to get the B&W685 for my L&R ASW610 for sub, but not sure which centre (HTM61 or 62) to match it with.

I know B&W suggest using HTM62 with the 685. In terms of spec, the HTM61 has the FST midrange and it goes...

        Center Channel in Cabinet - B&W 685 or HTM62?
        by dmiranda
        I've had my setup for a couple of months with 2 x 685, 2 x M1 and an REL T5 Sub.

Now its time to buy the CC. I haven't auditioned any speaker but from what I've read common sense choices are the HTM62 or another 685.

There is one last variable to consider and is the space...
