Can anyone tell me how the 801 matrix stacks up against the new 803di ? Is the 801 matrix still a good speaker?

The M801S3 still better than 803D. Believe or not users in this forum who had the M801S3 just became satisfied, I mean got full advantages with the 800Di. Even some who tested 802Di felt the big bass.
So I recommend you make a search by yourself for a used pair of 801D or 800D. With the 803D/Di you will not completely satisfied and will want the M801 back (If you already own it) -
Quite a few different 801 models, and each one does have their own good and bad sides. They are however still good speakers in my opinion. Only real big downside is that they need a big powerful amp to really sing..Comment

How does current 802D (not Diamond) compare to the Matrix 801? I can get Matrix 801 for half the price of 802D and I sure love the bigger woofer... Guess the sound will be bigger as well. However the newer B&W's must be more refined in every way? I currently only have McIntosh 6900 which I know... -

Hi all, this is my first post to this forum. I am the happy owner of B&W 801 Matrix Series 2 speakers which arrived Saturday. Unfortunately, both retaining bolts that hold the heads to the cabinets were bent during shipping and one of the plastic caps is broken. :cry:
