The good thing, they look gorgeous :E

The bad, i was shocked how poor they sounded, i mean really poor. There little speakers and that's exactly how they sound even at moderate listening levels. my dealer indicated they need a really good amp which scares potential buyers away due to cost. Next to it was a 805d and after a side by side it was obvious the 805d is not even close, granted they cost 2000 euro more inclusing stands.

I really wanted to like the pm1. But it's off my list, 3000 euro including stands....

I feel the 805d price is way to high but i'm going to give it a try at a home demo in a couple of weeks time.

Anybody else got a chance to listen?

    Brgds,
    Alex
the thing with the PM1s is will be completely lost in a large room. the small room I heard them in they sounded pretty good, excellent top end, good soundstage, and decent bass given their small proportions. but yeah dont compare the 805D to them. leaves em for dead, but then so they should at twice the price.

I do think amp and source will make a massive difference too. the amp I heard the 805D demoed with was almost as expensive as the 805D themselves and to great end result. I can imagine people being scared off using expensive gear. but to get the best from em, it is indeed worth it. as result was amazing ! :T

      Hoi Alex,
I'm in Switzerland and I ind the PM1 a nice speaker only for the eyes, sure not at the llevel from a 805d.

the PM1 in a "little" room and with a "good" ampli can make happy some people ....
you know that the PM price (and all the B&W) in europa in a lot more expensive vs. the Usa.

At this moment I use a 805S as rear but I don't think the a copy of PM1 powered from the Classe CA3200 is a good thing/choice.

Ok, I have to come back to my earlier rather harsh review of the PM1.

I had a long session with the PM1 driven by a Marantz Pm11 next to the 805D and it sounded way different than my earlier demos. The amp sure makes a huge difference.

While i still think the price tag is rather heavy (also for the 805D) the Pm1 is back on the list, it sounded great, I listened to music for the first time in a long time rather than the speaker. The 805D mmm not convinced yet, I had to put the volume down, it sounded too bright for my ears especially after a long session. I will get the chance to demo both at home powered by Classe.

I still feel the PM1 requires an amp that will scare potential customers due to price but if you have one check 'em out.

            Hey guys,

            I currently have a music+HT setup, running 804S fronts, HTM2 center and N805 backs

I'm looking into having a seperate room for music listening, but it seems the 804S are too large for the room, can't really get rid of boomy bass due to room modes & distances to the wall.

So I'm thinking moving the "old" N805 forward in my HT room, making a seamless front end, and adding some CM1 for surround duties.

Finally I'm considering PM1 for my music room.

Now, I did audition 804S vs 804Di (or whatever the latest version is called) and I dislike the diamond sound (I can't explain it, I prefer the old S by miles)

I'm wondering if the PM1 will be closer to the 804S sound (I already read it's an improvement on 805S) or closer to the diamonds.

Anyway, I will do auditioning vs 805D and possibly something from the 800 S line if they still have it, and try audition at home, but I wanted opinions first.

Deep bass I don't care for when listening to music, that's out of the equation.

              B&W PM1 me like
              by dan87951
I bought a pair of the PM1's to try out and after having them a while I really like them!

Foot Print: First of all these speakers are really small and I love how I can stick them just about anywhere without them being the focal point of the room.

              Looks: When I first saw...

              Compare 805s vs PM1
              by knot_m3
Has anyone try audition between 805s vs PM1 for the front channel of a home theater set?
Now, I already have htm4s for the center channel, Anthem MRX500 for the avr and Martin Logan Dynamo1000 for sub, and I'm deciding to buy a pair of new PM1 or used 805s for the front channels of my home theater...

              Hi guy's

Just sold my Paradigm Signature S6's to down size our audio equipment. I wanted something small with good sound quality. After listening to the B&W PM1's I was blown away how good these thing sounded and looked. So bought them on the spot with matching stands but no center....

CDM9NT and LCR6S2 and LM1 - Can they form a home theater system?

              Hi folks,

My father and I are new to the home theater systems. We recently came across a dealership who had discontinued its B&W line of speakers. They still have couple of older model of B&W speakers which they are still selling. They recommended us the following B&W speakers...
