    B&W Center Channel Question

    Dear Beloved Forum Experts,

Feeling good to post in here after a long time gap. I came to seek your expert suggestion for making a decision. I currently have 603-S3 fronts. and wanted to build my 5.1 HT around it and go further as my pocket supports , hence in a search of the center channel. my dealer has some demo pairs of HTM-62 and HTM-7, I'd like to ask which will be my best pick between those 2 centers, since HTM-7 is for old 700 series, will it match the old B&W 603-S3 fronts?? or will the newer model center HTM-62 is just fine with my old 603-S3's? I just cannot find the older matching LCR-600 center  any input is appreciated.

PS: any good Sub Woofer suggestion is also appreciated. for the above future HT setup, without digging my pocket deep.

    Thanks
    P

Is buying online an option? I've seen quite a few LCR-600 center speakers on ebay and audiogon.com recently.

About the subwoofer, I have an HSU sub and it's awesome, definitely look into their products since they're very affordable specially for the performance:

Discover HSU Research’s award-winning subwoofers—engineered for powerful, accurate bass at budget-friendly prices. Explore our top-rated budget subwoofers and speakers by Dr. Hsu to elevate your home theater and music experience today.

I never used SVS, but I heard they make solid subwoofers as well.

No, buying online is not an option to this part of the world, as it would cost heavy to import and we do not have any HSU dealers here. if I get HTM-7 will it match? I'm getting for USD 525, will it match with my 603-S3 fronts? or I go with the HTM62? which is Demo peace for USD 340$'s what is my best match for the center between these 2

      Thx in advance

Do you have an opportunity to test at home?

The HTM62 is a MTM (mid-tweeter-mid) speaker and is therefore a major compromise in off axis performance. As such it is not going to be a great match even to the new 600 series speakers.

The HTM7 is going to be a better center because it uses a vertical mid-tweet alignment and is just plain better construction. I am afraid, however, that you still will not have a great match to your 603s.

That said, if it was me, I would still opt for the HTM7 if it had to be one of those two. One thing I can't stand is muddied dialog.

          Center speaker for 683 fronts?
          by metallicaband
          Hello all,

I've been using my 685 as my center for 2+ years now along with my 683 fronts. I've moved to a different apartment recently and I''m going to be sitting very close to my 50" 9G Kuro now (around 6-7 ft max). Since it's well known that the HTM61 sounds bad uplocse, it's...

I'm rounding out my first 5.1 setup (I know, I'm 2 channels behind the curve... but hey, I don't really have room right now for that many speakers anyways) and I'm getting kind of excited.

          These are my mains:

          B&W Center for Rogers LS7?
          by hotwheels
          Hello,
After a long time I have decided to try to work around what I have always thought was a living room that was just not well suited to sound or HT. My spouse has wanted HT for a few years, so we bought a 37" LCD and she brought home a Rotel 1056 the other day. We hooked it up to L&R...

Subs... Do they have to match?
          by platinum
I purchased a 10 inch sub (PSB Subsonic5) 6 months ago to match my LCR-600 and 602S3s... During the first few months I was really impressed but as time went on i kinda noticed the bass was really lacking since the AV room is like 15x20 ft... Cus of that I'm thinking of purchasing a brand new sub and...

          Statements Center advice, please
          by deepfriedbutter
Hello! I'm looking to possibly build a statement center to match my full statement towers. I have a few concerns, however. My max weight is 40lbs due to my center being mounted to my up/down TV mount and I cannot space the speaker 18" away from the wall. I know the statement II is sealed, but I...
