Tear in driver cone!

I wasnt sure where to post this one, but i thought here would be the best option..So i got a B&W DM110i and the cone got torn whilst hoovering (dont ask :roll: ) now i was wondering how to i go about getting this repaired/replaced? Would B&W dstill stock these parts? Any information would be handy, and if you need pictures feel free to ask.

So the part number is (zz00205) and retails for 260.60. Call your local B&W dealer and give them the part number and your good to go.

Actually the part it in grey meaning they do not have it anymore. So the best bet is to find the speaker used somewhere or take it to a re-coning shop to have a look at it.

Until you can source a replacement you could just try gluing the edges of the tear together. This assumes that the hoover just tore the cone and didn't swallow it. The appropriate glue depends on cone material. I've made serviceable repairs on paper cones with white glue. I've also repaired some poly cone speakers with a little "schmear" of silicone seal, using a similar technique. Not perfect but it keeps your speaker alive.

My father is always re-coning speakers for the neighborhood.... Just did a set of old early 80's dual woofer infinity's!

I considered the re-coning <-- (correct spelling?? :S ) but like Bobellis said it has to be the right weight in order to perform at its peak, ill think ill get hold of B&W and see if they got an up to date driver that will fit in both cabs.

You don't need to replace with the old driver that came with the speaker. There are new drivers that are better that will match your speaker. The only down side is you will need to buy two (so you can do both speakers).

B&W should be able to provide you with a current driver that will match your speaker. Just give them a call..

If you are going to repair it is important to know the cone material. The adheasive must be compatable with that material or it will migrate and eventually eat the cone.

Its a weirrrrd material, id say its cardboard-ish, but im reallly not sure. How would i go about finding out? E-mail B&W?
