Peerless 7" exclusive - venting holes in cone?

I got a pair of Nomex drivers with plug cheaply on ebay. They seem to be engineering samples supplied to an OEM, no type number or date code. They also have excellent workmanship, a thing I cannot say about the smaller exclusives I bought recently (by the way, the 830 882 has a Kapton former!).

Anyway, they seem to be a Nomex version of the old 850 467, i.e. black cut-sides basket, turned anodized phase plug. When tapping on the cone, it sounds much duller and deader than either 850 467 or 850 439.

A notable difference to the 850 467 and 830 881 and 830 882 is that the venting holes near the neck of the cone are missing. Their function in all non-phase plug HDS drivers is to vent the space between dustcap and pole piece, the downside being that they weaken the cone in an area that is subjected to enormous stress. They really serve no function at all in the plugged drivers, but Peerless probably uses them to avoid keeping a separate stock of cones without holes punched through them. The plugged drivers have a secondary attachment to the VC former through the dustcap, so the cone is probably strong enough as it is, but I had actually been wondering whether it is a good idea to put some carbon fiber tape over those holes.

So my question is: does the regular 830 883 have those holes? I might probably get one just to compare the FR and CSD with and without holes.

Yes, it does. Well, at least mine do, and they seem to be quite "regular" (came from Madisound some time after the first shipments started.
